Can you detonate sticky bomb during other animations?

No, detonation has its own anmation an it's sorta laggy.

I've never seen anyone detonate in mid-air.

You can detonate in midair although I am not sure if it has less lag or not...it's possible it has slightly less lag in the air but I'd wager it's the same.

At least he doesn't yell as loud in the english version when you detonate it, so it's easier to surprise enemies.

if your enemy lands a laggy aerial or move, yes. unless the jab combo actually make the sticky bomb get stuck to you. (works as a goey bomb but I don't really know how they work)
ok it is not DURING last hit, but while your enemy is being knockback by the jab combo it should ''combo'' with the c4 explosion no matter how slow it is, I doubt they will dodge that.

you can raise higher than the stage and detonate the C4 and then land on the stage/edge

I was able to raise high, detonate into up air.

So you can't activate the bomb without the animation of him doing it, that's what I was getting at.
