I created a video to find out if I could do this specific challenge to a game we all love!

Have you been able to defeat the 1P mode? and how many attempts did it take you?

i actually can't beat that challenge (haven't tried it to much because 1p mode is bull****)

in other news. i've just realized i completely stopped playing cpus. 2 months ago i was playing them all the time. it's strange that i've always wanted to stop doing that, but have no idea what caused it.

habits how do they work

I can make it all the way to the polygon team. Never really beat them in very hard. I did beat it in melee though but that's not the subject here.

I can do it. Why are you playing in 16:9? 4:3 pls
didint think it looked so bad in 16/9, still learning the way of the video editing

they are hard. Not to mention metal mario. My part 2 video(coming soon) of it shows me going against metal mario and the polygon team...the hardest part of the whole mode

I've done it with Captain Falcon - with 5 lives. This was before I was into competitive-ish stuff and when I still had the game for real, not emulated on my Wii (regret getting rid of it still...).

At separate times I've cleared the all the stages, including the fighting Polygon team and Metal Mario without losing stocks, as well as Master Hand (3 hearts during the Polygon team with my percent over 150 - timing so good XD ). So if you string it all together, yes, I've done this. But not all at once, no.

I've heard rumors that Isai has cleared the mode without taking any damage, although I highly suspect that was someone making a statement that is merely realistic based on his skill level (I don't imagine he plays 1P mode much).

1stock is most important. i've done it a bunch of times with samus/falcon/kirby, my highest score being like, 1.3m with samus or something. in my opinion, giant DK is most difficult part for samus. she can just pwn everyone else pretty easily, including master hand...usmash is too strong.

Master hand has never been a problem for anyone I think. GDK and polygons are the most difficult in my opinion. It all comes down to being lucky with hearts/tomatos.

Battlecow said he could do it with DK.

DK is pretty easy. You just need some item luck on the polygon team. Actually, the difficulty of the challenge basically comes down to whether or not your character has some random move that sakurai made really good against low handicap opponents. If you have one, you can spam against the polygon team and win most of the time; if not, you're just praying for some pokeballs and hearts. SO, DK and Mario can just spam up-b and win pretty easily, while Jigglypuff is a ***** to win with.

Yeah edge attacks and air-camping with nair/uair were what I used with puff. They aren't as safe as a spammable tilt or b-move, and obviously you give up stage position. Once you learn to time the CPU's random edge attacks, the get-ups work pretty well

D-tilt might do something, but it's kinda laggy. I don't remember ever using it for that reason. I don't think utilt will kill or combo on very hard. I'll mess around before the Pens game tonight and see.

Back in the day me and my friends did a bunch of 1 life challenges just to kill time. It was always funny when the Mario Bros. pulled out some random frame perfect CPU downsmash BS on some random attempt

A few years ago I beat it three times in a row with only one stock while using ness. I thought I was like the god of smash bros lol.

Yes, I can do it with all characters, except with Jigglypuff and Donkey Kong. For almost all characters, I played in the Japanese version because they are far better there. The order was:
  • Captain Falcon (Japan), Falcon Dive spam
  • Link (Japan), Spin Attack and dair spam
  • Samus (Japan), Screw Attack spam
  • Ness (I never play as him, and it was on the first try, don't ask how because I sincerely don't know), side smash spam
  • Yoshi (same as Ness), Yoshi Bomb spam
  • Fox (Japan), Reflector spam
  • Mario (Japan), Mario Tornado, Super Jump Punch and Fireball spam
  • Luigi (Japan), same as Mario.
  • Kirby (Japan), Stone spam
  • Pikachu
P.S.: 1P Game is a broken mess with "retardedly" dumb ally CPUs. Giant DK is ultra over powered, and you have to pray for a "pling" (item appearing sound) so he stops massacring your butt and go get it, and then you can finally have a chance to deal some % to him. Kirby Team will either kick your asscrack, or suicide with forward throw, killing you (SRSLY?). Metal Mario is painful for characters without drills (such as DK). Polygons is just spam, spam, spam. Master Hand is a joke. Bonus Stages are time-wasting.

I don't see what trouble everyone has with giant DK. With most characters you can just rapidly spam fthrow until it actually starts tossing him, and then just fthrow to fsmash and repeatedly fsmash until hes toast.

So I was trying to play 1P mode today and my game will only let me play as Mario. Regardless of which character I pick, I'll just default to Mario. I guess my cartridge is dying?

i did a pikachu run on vh on my youtube channel GCLU. i think dk is probably the easiest (up b is dumb vs the polys and backthrow is well broken vs. heavies.)

jiggs is probably the hardest for me.

my friend's cart actually has this Mario 1p mode issue. Only in classic 1P, not targets, training, or Platform boarding. Its the ultimate troll cart for parties and get togethers for our friends, either only use mario or you're forced to fight me in vs mode jajajaja
