Can we expect a certain trend for when characters are added to the site?

So it seems like there is a trend happening here...
We have averaged 1 character reveal for each month.
And each time the character is revealed they have a game releasing soon.
(With the exception of Peach)

With the help of Curmudgeon we have compiled a list of the important dates for upcoming releases.
This can give us some insight to perhaps who the character reveal for that month will be.
Let me know if we have missed anything.

Doubt we will get Luigi, he will be unlockable. There is no telling how the characters will be revealed for Smash to be honest.

Hopefully Ness will be announced when Earthbound comes to the VC. It would be nice if there was a trend so that we at least know something is coming.

We can probably expect about one a month. Brawl's starting roster was 21, so there's probably 21-25 starting characters in Smash 4. We have 13 so far on the site, so another 12 would take us up to next summer, which seems a likely time of release.

I'm hoping we will get a new character reveal every month, yes. That's slow enough for them to not burn out the roster, but fast enough to keep me excited and interested.​

Maybe we can get actual newcomer reveals via Nintendo Directs. That would also be neat.​

Pikmin & Olimar were released to celebrate the release of Pikmin 3, so do you think they will continue this with other Wii U/3DS games coming out in the future?

Maybe add Luigi when Super Luigi U comes out in hard copy.
Diddy or Dixie Kong when Tropical Freeze comes out.
Peach, or maybe even Toad when Super Mario 3D World comes out.
Yoshi & Baby Mario combo when Yoshi's New Island comes out.
Maybe even Toon Link makes a return for Wind Waker HD.
Pac-Man for the new Pac-Man game for 3DS.
New Pokemon character for when X&Y release.

I tend to think so yes. Now, I don't think we should expect one for every release, but I bet this won't be the only time this good timing happens either. I do think we'll get Mewtwo confirmation when X&Y are released though. That's really the only one of these I'm kinda expecting, though others are certainly possible.

Don't bet on getting any unlockables (which I expect Mewtwo would be, were he in). The only unlockables that were revealed for Brawl before release were Sonic & Snake.

It could also be that it's been nearly exactly a month since SSB4's reveal in June? :O Monthly reveals seem logical but don't know if it has got anything to do with other game releases.

I'd say if any pokemon veteran would be revealed for X and Y's release it would be the Pokemon Trainer. I'd imagine that the likes of Mewtwo, Lucario and Jigglypuff would just remain unlockable characters. But that's just my opinion really..... :/

Since Pikmin 3 was released in Japan around Olimar's confirmation, I doubt it was a coincidence, he doesn't seem like a good character to confirm before the others without a good reason such as this.

I'm not sure about Peach or other characters being revealed around the release of other certain games, though I do expect Mewtwo or at least a Pokemon rep to be revealed with the release of Pokemon X and Y and Toon Link to be confirmed around Wind Waker HD's release.

As stated, I think one a month is enough to keep everyone pleased while not giving away too much to keep us on our toes.
I so bad want another one, and its possible to release one a month till somewhere in 2014 we will have a similar starting roster count as brawl

EDIT: I think how much we also see before launch is dependent on how much are actually in the game as well.
If Sakurai is true to his word about keeping a similar number as then he may release 2 a month starting next month. It also depends on when the game is actually coming out.

So yeah...its really hard to determine, I also just contradicted myself....

I WANT to think Olimar's reveal was a one-time thing just to coincide with Pikmin 3's release. I hope character reveals aren't just restricted to advertisements. Not only does it feel really cheap, but when else would they reveal characters who don't have upcoming games?

Hmmm it could br because if he did he would tell us too much in a time that seems too short for him.

In other words i dont really think this game will be delayed and it will come Summer 2014. Reasonable.

If Sakurai follows the trend of revealing characters near the release date of their own games then maybe we should expect Wonder Red (from W101, I don't think he's likely but...) in August, a Zelda character in September, a Pokémon rep or Sonic in October, a DK rep in November and a Mario rep in December.

Due note, however, that the first secret character wasn't "officially" revealed until February, the month before Brawl came out, after 2 delays. We won't be getting secret characters for a LOOOOONG time, unless they make another accidental leak.

Yh i agree...but us trolls need food to keep us occupied too you know...

I tend to normally stay away from the speculation freak threads because there pointless and end up giving me a headache...and before you know there is a flamewar/heated argument over player 1 opnion of specualtion vs Player 2's....(-_-) yh pointless....

But its cool that were all more civil than that.

With who has and has not been unlockable in the past three games, I can find no clear trend. Thus, I would not be surprised if Mewtwo wasn't unlockable, if for no other reason then so his reveal could generate hype both for Pokemon X/Y and ssb4. At the same time though, I wouldn't be surprised if you are right and they unveil some other Pokemon. Regardless with a single international release date for X/Y it seems ripe for a reveal of some sort.

It's the last update of the week and since there's no posts on the Sat/Sun, the Friday post will remain hyped throughout the weekend. Olimar was shown off on a Friday....and that's the only evidence I got. So I dunno.

A new Pikmin stage was revealed. Seems the site is just trimmed down somewhat, with pages dedicated to characters, but not stages or features, etc.

There was a Brawl site up, but it contained nothing but the Main Theme, introductions of the 5 Newcomers, and some short story about how the game came to be, so it couldn't really be called a Dojo. It was only a year after that the Dojo launched and replaced the old site, and it was constantly updated every weekday from there on out (or I think that there was 1 week where we didn't get updates because Sakurai went somewhere iirc, maybe E For All 07 or something.)
