I was reading in another post about these strategies,

can someone help me break them down, so i can apply them in my own gaming strategy?

*You need to learn the stutter step*

*Try to shield grab when dashing (Shield to stop your dash and then grab) instead of always doing a dashing grab

*Try fox-trotting instead of always running*

The simplest way to stutter step is by using the C-stick to smash in the opposite direction you're facing; some characters get extra range with their smashes by doing this such as Mario, Captain Falcon, and Ganondorf.

Shield grabbing while dashing is good because you can do any move you could do out of a shield and shield grabs have less lag then a dashing grab.

Fox-trotting is good because, although running is generally faster, you have much more control over your movement and momentum.

how is smash backword stutter stepping?

im not getting it?

I sometimes face the opposite way to have the longer reach in the smash, but what does that have anything to do with stutter stepping?

That's the whole point of the stutter step, extra range to your Fsmash. Also, you'll be fine using aerials off the ledge to edgeguard, just be careful not to go too far away that you can't recover; aerial edgeguarding takes practice.

Also, ive heard that you B-air to edge guars, but if you do that, how can you recover, wont you fall as well?
No just time your jumps and attacks correctly. Right after your bair connects use your cape to get some additional air and recover using up b.

Short hopping off backwards double bair, and then jump outwards with an extra bair... [money shot status].. you should still have enough room to up+b back up. I do it all the time.. how ever, the opponent can still recover at lower percentages.

bair to edguard is probably mario's next best option to fludd+cape. bair is fast and little/no lag and has quite good reach and knockback. fair is a lot better since its stronger and can spike if done correctly but has a lot of lag and probably will make u kill yourself if it misses.......

just remember to cape a bit before using your final third jump to recover since it helps a teeny bit with your momentum. or you could wavebounce in the other direction.

Fox trotting is pointless. Simply increases ur changes to trip for almost little gain to control considering that u can stop running at any point with same speed difference. Shield grab from dash isn't a big deal with mario since time difference isn't big.
