Can someone help me understand how Plup shield drops so well?

He NEVER misses a shield drop. To be honest, I can't even see his shield start to tilt before he falls through the platform and he does it instantly. Watch one of his more recent matches and you will see flawless (smash 64 style) shield dropping. There has to be a solid technique to doing this without requiring some sort of strange setup. PewPewU or someone did a tutorial on it to help people, but it looked awkward and didn't line up with what people like Plup are doing. Yes, I understand he may have god-like control over the speed of his joystick, but I want to believe there is something more going on.

It's just pure skill and practice which turns into muscle memory. Different players excel at different things...Duck pretty much power-shields every Falco laser perfectly, Bizzarro almost never misses a waveland, AmSa can parry grabs and attacks way too easily, S2J is extremely consistent at dropping edge-guards (lol :troll:).

I personally find it much easier to shield drop once my analog stick has been broken in and is a tiny bit loose, then there seems to be a larger tilt zone for me. Just briskly moving the analog stick down at a fast-but-not-too-fast pace works best for me (not flicking but taking about 3 frames in a deliberate motion to get 1/3 of the way down) I'm only about 80% consistent. Most of the time the problem is people go too fast or they try and flick down, there is a particular speed and distance at which you have to tilt.
