Hello, I hope someone can help me on a training routine. I used to primarily play sheik , but when I picked up falco and falcon a while back. I found myself playing and practicing them , but in tournament I only felt comfortable playing sheik, after not practicing sheik that much, I mainly play with falcon and falco now.

Without even mastering sheik I found myself playing more with falcon and falco. I hear it's hard to co-main multiple characters but my sheik is still my best character which my friends tell me but I find myself doing better with my other characters often.

Can someone help me on how I should practice my 3 mains with most efficiency? Any help is appreciated.

It's all about preference honestly and what you want to accomplish with this game as an individual.

If you can feel comfortable playing all 3, or think you can, then go for it! However, I know what you mean about playing a specific character in tournament. I've been following the competitive scene for almost 4 years now, and I've constantly switched mains: Yoshi, Zelda, Marth, Peach, Falco, Marth, Captain Falcon, Falco, Doc and so on. I could never decide.

The first character I really even came close to "mastering" was Doc. I used to main Doc, and I still play lots with him for fun still. If I tried character CPing someone with one of my secondaries for one of Doc's tougher matchups, if they understood the matchup better than I did, I got absolutely bopped. So, I went back in the lab and played with a few characters that I used to play more than Doc.

Doc was the first character I felt I had total control over and knew how to mix up options and punish with really efficiently. Getting deeper into the game and understanding how I want to play, I've realized that for me (and probably the metagame as well) the character has a lot of shortcomings and can't deal with certain matchups very well, so I've almost completely dropped him at this point in favour of characters with more options.

If YOU feel like you can't do what you want to do with Sheik, you should probably start considering switching to Falco and/or Captain Falcon full time. That being said, if you like playing all three, it's harder and obviously requires more time, but you can in fact be good with several characters. Just look at Mango, Azen, M2K and plenty of other pro players for inspiration.

Thanks a bunch dude, u helped me bug time here

I also feel like my sheiks punish game is a lot better than my other 2 mains. I will try using sheik at my next tournament but if I lose I'll cp with falcon/falco.

In friendlies I will also switch off between all characters.

Thanks again, it great getting help from someone who had a similar issue

The only difficulty I noticed in playing multiple characters is simply my ability to execute due to lack of time spend with them. When I knew nothing about the character it was quite easy to fall prey to the end idea that this character's (X) move will be good too. Yeah, that is not the case for say going from Falco to Ganon.

If I randomly go Luigi all I will ever do is probably some variation on WD since its the only thing I know about the character without knowing what he should be doing. But, after seeing how others play say Sheik, Falcon, and Fox I have an idea of what I should be doing, but not enough time spent to execute it well.

In this case, I say learn how you should play each character individually, then simply practice it.

But, stick with one main :D

Thanks man :D that's also a good idea. I learned other characters from boredom, and because sheik vs ICs is a hard ass matchup for sheik and my falcon and falco usually do better against them. Thanks again :)
