Can somebody fill me in on a few questions?

There are some things I want to know about the Mii fighters:

1) can you use them in online play? (with strangers)
2) if so, can custom moves be used with them online?
3) how customizable are they? can you change stats and stuff?

1. No
2. With anyone/strangers, No. With friends, yes.
3. They have 4 possible Special moves per special attack (A total of 16 total specials) per eachof the 3 Mii Fighters. They also have slightly different weight depending how tall you made your Mii (It's the same three Weight classes from Mario Kart Wii, 7, and 8) though they're only slight changes in exact weight and height. And as for changing stats, I believe they change if you want to give them equipment much like customizing the other fighters that are not the Miis.

why the hell are they not able to used online? for what purpose? i can half understand no-customs but no miis period? wtf sakurai?

They're not banned from online period. As long as you have friends that you play Smash 4 with. Miis as well as Custom Movesets are unrestricted.

And yeah, I think myself it's rather dumb that they're not available online when Mario Kart allows Miis and you don't get that many Hitlers, Dickfaces, etc. on a basis like some of the people who thought this would be a reason the Miis would not be included at all were complaining about. It is also kind of dumb considering they do have that report feature that could have been the solution to this. But what's done is done, Miis with friends assuredly will be full of fun anyway.

I'm not even sure I'll do that many matches with Randoms myself. I'd rather my Online Play be unrestricted on just about anything.

Considering the footage we've seen shows the Miis aren't very OP even with custom moves, the only reasoning I can think of is they don't want 9 year olds to play against a guy with a penis for a face.

Well it just takes one guy with a mii with a penis face or a middle finger or a crude name to ruin it for all of us.
