Can Nintendo make a female Cloudcuckoolander protagonist work in a video game?

When a female character is the main protagonist of a video game, it tends to be the grown, adult woman type like Lara Croft or Bayonetta. But what if there was a main female protagonist in a game who wasn't like that? Like a zany, bubbly girl who follows her own logic, and is naive, quirky, random, and optimistic. Someone who's like Pinkie Pie or Mabel Pines only isn't. Can someone like Nintendo make a character like this work?

Specificaly, I'm talking about a character with The Mask/Beatlejuce/Genie from Aladdin type powers, but with wacky and bubbly personality of characters like Pinkie Pie, Mabel Pines, or Pascal from Tales of Graces.

If this counts then the answer to the thread is no, Nintendo cannot make this work
Super Princess Peach wasn't that bad, though I agree that her SSB personality did not come across in that game at all.

Tales of Graces would have been a much better game had it centered around Pascal.
