Can I train for a Sm4sh tournament with Project M?

Hey, guys. The title itself explains it all. I bought a Wii U but it'll only arrive by the end of March (a friend will bring me one from his trip to the US) and I have a local tournament in April 3rd. I had lots of practice on my 3DS before it broke, mainly with Jigglypuff and Cap Falcon.
I was wondering if I can practice in Project M while my Wii U doesn't arrive.
Is Jigglypuff and Falcon in PM similar to their Sm4sh counterparts?
If not, is there any other way I can practice in the meantime?
Thank you in advance.

Probably not. That's really not a good idea. Project M Jigglypuff is Melee Jigglypuff, and Melee Jigglypuff is not Smash 4 Jigglypuff.

It probably would help a little bit, but I wouldn't rely on it. Work on your fundamentals, because the mechanics of each game differ pretty significantly.

Honestly Falcon is stupid in Project M and playing him would be beneficial slightly. He has uair in to any of his aerials depending on DI like Sm4sh, but he's still more like his Melee counterpart. Same goes for Jigglypuff, but I'd just stick to the 3DS Version if I had it. From my perspective, Project M is more about the offensive options while Sm4sh is more about the reads and safe options.

...playing Project M or even Brawl a day before you get your Wii U could help you get familiar with the controller though.

I'd say no. The two games use different physics, so what works in Brawl and Project M likely won't work in Smash 3DS and/or Smash Wii U.

Aw, heeeeyuck naowww. Your best bet would be to practice with Sm4sh itself on either platform!

EDIT: Never mind. Read your explanation, so now I'd say wait for your Wii U. It'll be all worth it! :4pacman:

Straight up Brawl would be closer, but it's still a vastly different game. Shame about your busted 3DS because that's the closest you're gonna get outside of Wii U.

Maybe if you use Toon Link, I found him to be the most PM like character in Smash 4 but even then practicing PM will put you into bad habits in Smash 4 like trying to L-cancel or forgetting the property and move set differences to each character, my mains in PM were Sonic, Mario, Charizard and Ganondorf, I still main Mario in Smash 4 but Charizard, Sonic and Ganon felt super awkward coming from PM into Smash 4 and it messed me up a lot.
