First of all fix the thread title. Bad grammar = failure.

Link and Sheik are pretty easy matchups for Lucas in general. If you can, try to get some practice against Marth, Snake, Olimar, Metaknight, Dedede, G and W and some others.

You have a few good things going for you. Unlike a lot of players out there you don't seem to randomly dash headlong into the enemy too often. You also made pretty good use of Nairs sometimes and your jabs which is good. Your PK Thunder edgeguarding wasn't bad but I'll make some comments on how you can improve it a little bit.

The biggest thing I see that could improve your playing is to work on spacing. Lucas is a character who really needs to rely on PK Fire to keep the opponent at bay. You want to keep your enemy on the very edge of your PK Fire range until they slip up and you can go in for a big hit. Short hopped PK Fires are better than grounded PK Fires since they have less lag. You should try B-sticking your PK Fires and see how you like it. It can work wonders for your spacing if you use it appropriately. The same thing goes for your fairs. Lucas's Fair is actually a pretty dangerous move to use because it's easy for opponents to get around and punish you for it. So if you're going to use it you need to space it so you're hitting only with the tip of it and then pull back so that you won't get punished. It's not really an approach move so much as a pestering aerial for if they try to get inside your PK Fire range. Forward tilt can work a lot the same way. If the opponent starts getting close you can throw out a Ftilt which has pretty decent range to keep them back. The point of Lucas's game in many cases is simply to wear down your opponent until their percentage is high enough to kill them or they make a big enough mistake that you can pull out a Fsmash or Dsmash for the kill.

When you're edgeguarding with PK Thunder you want to make sure the opponent can't cancel it before it gets to them. A few times against Link he simply hit your thunder with his sword, wasting your attempt at edgeguarding. To avoid this (especially against characters with swords) you're going to want to try to loop PK Thunder underneath them and up to hit them with the side of the head of PKT1. Most characters don't have aerials they can use in the air that attack below them. Make sure you're trying to hit with just the very edge of the PKT1 head so it's harder for the opponent to airdodge through it as well. In the second video you hit Sheik toward you with PKT1 and into your PKT2. This may look sweet and look like a brilliant tactic at first but it's actually extremely dangerous. PKT1 has one of the lowest hitstuns in the game and if your opponent is watching what they're doing they can often attack almost immediately after being hit by it. Your friend probably didn't know it but most likely he could have pulled of a Nair right in your face. Trust me, if the computers can abuse this, humans can too.

Hopefully some of that helped. Keep playing Lucas.

Thank you, that was helpful.

I'm going to leave the thread title for the comedic qualities; you can judge my grammar in posts.

Should I be using B-air more often? The Lucases I've seen in action seem to use the move constantly but I feel it is just as punishable as F-air. I've also noticed, after reading only a few threads, that a common technique is to keep opponents at a distance with projectiles and wait for their approach. Is this really what Brawl is all about? My style of play, in every game, is aggressive and I'd like to maintain that.

I will work on my PK Thunders and I am sad that what I did to Sheik isn't useful because, as you stated, it looks sweet.

When you're against a Link, airdodge when you are directly above him, because his u-tilt, u-smash and bombs can seriously punish someone as light as Lucas. When you edgeguard with PK Thunder, weave your PK Thunders to make it harder for them to cancel it. And work on your spacing, too, because PK Fire will save you in many situations.

Yeah Lucas isn't really the best character for aggressive play. He pretty much has to play defensively due to his limited options. Bairs are nice too. I tend to use them when I'm falling instead of Dairs because they put a better wall between you and your opponent. Spiking with it is good too but takes some practice and they have to be in the right spot. There's a thread on it around here somewhere. Bairs really are considerably less punishable than Bairs but for either one you need to be very careful about your spacing.
