Can I change the snow effect to look different?

I was thinking of changing the snow to look like this:

Except maybe have it go up at an angle(Anyone who's seen Clannad would know what I mean)

So my questions are:

1) How do you rotate models?
2) Is it possible to get rid of the black background on the snow texture and still have it work? This is because on some levels that black overrides the natural background like on Mr. Chuy's battlefield
3) Is my idea possible overall?

1.via the animation editor
2.Go more in-depth cuz i'm a little brain dead right now
3.Yes
Eh, animation editor? What's that and where would I find it?

As for the texture thing, what I mean is when you go into the textures section of a stage and find ame01(For Rain) or snow03(for snow) what you see is rain or snow on a black background.

Now I saw your snowy battlefield had a black sky and I though it would be cool to have the texture hack with a moon in the background.

So I opened that stage up and added the snow texture and the model for it(from Shadow Moses stage) and copied it just like you had your stage setup, I tested it and it STILL had the black background.

I tested on some other stages and found that the black background covers over certain parts of certain stages.

I was wondering how to fix that, and I was thinking if you got rid of the black background on the snow texture and made it transparent, then that black covering would go away.

I also wanted to do this for the balls of light that I want to make but what program should I use to make those(other than Photoshop, my computer doesn't have enough space for that type of program :( )

Someone told me about this for Distant Planet. Do you know how to get the rebooter to load so I can boot codes for Brawl? It gives me an error message.

BrawlBox has an animation editor, there's a link to some guides on how to use it on the bottom of the first post in the BrawlBox thread.

And lol, Photoshop doesn't take up that much space, just the installer is incredibly large for some odd reason. Get GIMP, it's not even a GB and it's just basically Photoshop with a steeper learning curve.

You've got your own thread, go ask in there.

I've got less than 2GB of memory left, I really need to be conservative lol

Thanks for the info

GIMP? I'll try it but first I need an answer to my question about the black background in my second post

Just an update

I don't know if either of these belong here, I wouldn't know anywhere else to put them though, so...

I decided to change the texture of the snow to make it look like the lights that float from Clannad, it came out pretty bad, and the lights are yellow but the picture makes them look white

I REALLY would like it if I could get them to float UP and an angle, I tried rotating the model, and animation editing, neither worked, if anyone knows how to do this could you help?

Also, the stage is Feel Good Inc.(I'm sure most of you knew that though...)

Reference Pic:

And here I just combined a bunch of things from other people:

There's a few problems with the stage itself(stage made by someone else):

Player 1 dies on entry spawn, and those top 2 mast pole areas(one where Link is standing on) act weird, like if you do Link's upB into it from below, he'll stop and land on that area instead of finishing his attack, it's pretty annoying, again I can't figure out how to fix that either...
Still can't get the snow to move up at an angle, tried animation editing and model rotating, when I tried it in game, none of the changes appeared, it just fell downwards like normal

So is it really possible to get the snow to move up at an angle or is this just a probability guess you guys are giving me?

you are making a new animation within the same model data right?
Yea, I tried but nothing happened, one time the changes didn't appear, the next time I got a silent freeze when loading the stage, I can't figure it out...

Is there something else I need to do? If you want I could send you the file to look at, I'm going to class in a few minutes though and won't be back for a few hours.

@Akuma

I really like what you're trying to do. If you want, you could send me a link to the file and I'll see what I can do with it...

Alright, I have looked at the file and here is my input.
The actual "snowing" animation is controlled by the .srt0 data, which I believe is actually animating the texture and not the model. That's why rotating the model and such via regular animations didn't affect anything because the .srt0 is still telling the snow to go down.

So, in short, I don't think it's currently possible to change the direction of the snow unless we have some way of editing the .srt0 data.

Thank you and have a good day.

Ah crap

Thanks for looking at in anyways

Well it's better than nothing I guess and when it is possible I'll go back and try again, but I'll release it for now I guess along with the falling cherry blossom petals

The falling petals have a glitch though, there's a line where the graphics don't match at the bottom but it's only 1 line and doesn't repeat upwards

Unfortunately it's RIGHT where the camera focuses on the players but it's not too noticeable, I've tried numerous things and nothing has worked so I assume nothing can be done to fix it
