Can I change skins in 3.5? And if so what am I doing wrong?

I have successfully changed songs and stages in 3.5 but whenever I try to change a skin nothing seems to happen.

are you renaming the file(s) correctly and placing them in the respective character folders?

I'm going to assume that I am putting them in the wrong folder, because I am renaming them and replacing some files.

could you provide a screenshot of the folder and costumes you're trying to implement?
