Don't know about USA to Jpn Demo-Demo, but USA to Australia Demo-Demo works.

If the demo works, high chance the full game works.

The full game will most likely work region-to-region. However, it will probably not work with the demo, as the demo has less content by design (it's not that all those characters and stages are just blocked off, they most likely literally don't exist on the demo's code, which is why it's so much smaller than the full game).
