I think if its online, they will show how good the connection is with a 1-5 star rating (like strikers) and you choose either to accept or not.

There will almost always be lag when it comes to online play. It may be so little you barely notice it. Though it may lag so bad that your foe get's a free hit on you and you cannot react to it untill your see yourself falling off the edge of the stage. So some matches could be unfair.

Green Kirby's right. LT100, there are already threads about online. Go check them out. Use the search function to help you. It's underneath where it says "Calendar" and next to where it says "FAQs".

Online isn't confrimed yet, and I'm pissed about that.
Read this, taken from the "How This Game Came to be Made" section of the old dojo.

There was a reason Smash Bros. was announced at the meeting.
That was because when it was asked what product Nintendo would want to use to help it unveil its Wi-Fi Network, the first title on the list in both America and Japan was Smash Bros. So it was first decided to talk about Smash Bros. as an example of a Wi-Fi title, resulting in the game being announced before the development structure was finalized.
Online was announced before Sakurai even knew he would be working on it.

I guess it would lag depending on your internet connection, the better it is, the less it will lag, but this all depends on if SSBB can even be used online... I for one, hope so.

I just bought Mario Strikers Charged a few days ago and when I accept a 3-4 star connection match online there really isn't any lag. I've only had 1 where it said it had a good connection signal and turned out to be really laggy. I am pretty impressed with it. I am of course talking about 1v1, whenever I tried 2v2 it was a little bit more laggy but nothing unbearable.
