NESSBOUNDER
Smash Master
I was just mucking around with Snake and wanted to know if this is a viable camping strategy or not.
What I did was simply plant a mine near the edge of the stage, then move to the very edge of the stage, turn around and face the opponent, and then constantly spam mortars.
If you placed the mine correctly, it won't be hit by the mortars, but the purpose of it being there is to make it difficult for your opponent to approach you. Basically, they can't stand at the optimal distance to get through your mortar wall with a well-timed dash attack or other move because the mine is in the way. They can't roll past the mine because they'll get hit by your mortars. If they attack the mine with a strong, disjointed attack, Snake can quickly attempt to hit them with a running attack. They can't jump over you and come from behind because they'll be over the stage then and in danger of being edgeguarded. If they try to air dodge past the mortars, Snake can just attack them with up tilt during the short moment of vulnerability. I suppose they could slide onto it with a shield, but then if Snake is fast enough he could pressure with a running mortar slide to get to the other side of the stage and repeat the process.
You can pretty much stall the match out until your mine disappears.
It seems flawed as a tactic, but my opponent found this very annoying for a while. Does anyone else do this?
