C-Stick Control Settings

I've always used the c-stick for my smash attacks but after spending a lot more time on the boards I've seen that some people use the c-stick for tilts instead, so I was wondering from a competitive standpoint, which move is better to set for the c-stick? Smash attacks or Tilts?

It's preference. Tilts make it easier to retain momentum while using it to perform aerials (think retreating Bair with Jigs). Smashes let you perform smash attacks like you always have. In theory, if you can flick the C-Stick fast enough (1-3 frames or so), there isn't a noticeable difference for smash and tilts for aerials.
