C/D Mario is a free runner

I'm coming here to possibly get some corroboration for an argument I've been having with a friend. He hates Mario, but loves free running, and I've told him that based on some of the things Mario can do, especially in SM:64, in relation to real life free running, Mario qualifies as a free runner.

I've presented these videos to him as evidence:

As well as the definition of Free Running:
