Okay... Well... Here's what happened...

My friend busted his DS Lite... well... not busted it... but got some Jelly or **** or SOMETHING into the Volume control lever (it's a lever scrolly thing...)

He asked me, "Yo, dude, can you open it up and clean it out for me? I think something's wrong with it."

So... cause I'm stupid... I said... SURE!

I took it home and tried opening it up... I got all the screw off except for the ones underneath the... sticky... things... the rubbery things that are supposed to hold the thing up...

So... since it wasn't opening (because before mentioned screws were still in) I decided... let's just try to clean it... So... I did clean it... with a Clorox Wet Wipe... The button moved just fine... :D

I was happy

So I closed it back up and tried to turn it on... The screen looked like this...
Well... I couldn't find a pic...

It's just... distorted... with horizontal lines and bad coloring... I think it's inverted...

So I opened it up for real... and looked at the connector... I didn't find anytihng wrong with it...

But I think I might've gotten some of the WetWipe "Juice" into the connector area since it's so close to the volume button... (good going Nintendo... like you didn't expect a kid to eat and play his DS and get **** in between the cracks.)

So... what my question is...

Would it be easier for me to replace the screen?

Or would it be easier for me to sell the Busted DS for parts... or to someone that can use it... and then buy my friend a New DS? How much could I get for it?

It looks great and works great... it's just the bottom screen is messed...

The touch screen is still great... it's just that the visual on the bottom screen is no good...

Please help

You'd probably only get $20 total for parts (maybe $50 if it runs "properly"), but I think the system is pretty much screwed otherwise. Try giving it a few days to see if drying improves the status of the screen, if not, well let's say you owe your friend a gift.
