played the last stock like a champ. against anyone with a reflector, don't be so predictable with your eggs and you won't be able to throw many eggs in succession before they start reflecting. falco looks nasty though, but when he does his little spinny move that racks up dmg (i assume that's just his jab being spammed?) stand back and let him do his thing, then when he's done you should have a window of oppurtunity for attack.

also, add some music or something to it!

Yeah, I can't watch it due to it freezing after 5 seconds of movement. But from what meta has said, when falco starts doing his spin jab thing I usaully back off and come at him with a bair (since it's priority is so great). All in all I hate fighting falcos cause of their blaster that shatters the egg roll

:yoshi: Nice stuff.

Good job with the pivot grabs. Edgeguarding needs some work, though. Also, when you and Falco would face off, you would get pretty predictable with the dash grabs. Try to mix up your approaches with forward-moving back aerials, empty short hops, DJC Egg Lays, and the like.

Good job, though.

If u are talking about when he whiffed them, i would grab him out of it, since grabbing is awesome and biting helps with move regeneration. DIing out of the jab takes a few seconds . Anyways, yea my eggs werent very good, ill try to mix them up. SH dairs arent my favorite, too much landing lag.
Also the second vid is up and the 3rd will be up soon, and later today im recording with one of the best luigis in norcal (i was told he was the best i dunno, but ill find out =P).

Yea i usually do more empty short hops, was really nervous during the match. Ill try some DJC egg lays, sounds nice.

just watched the second one. the main thing there was that you downb too much, and he predicted it a lot. seemed like most of the time he was just waiting for you to do it, then he would just roll and come back with a down smash. bair, dair, or nair could be used when approaching from the air.

i make the same mistake sometimes, his down b is just so fun to use, but good opponents catch on quick.

Yep, i did do that alot. Its like melee all over again -.- Lol, i shud post some vids where i dont do that =P yea i posted the 3rd match and i honestly had no idea what to do, he would just spam b and then shield grab my approaches, and he like predicted my *** off. Kinda depressing, but it was fun.

be especially conscience of where you're downb'ing on final d, since both you and your opponent are just on one giant platform. sometimes you can get away with it on other stages where you have more time to roll out of it and prepare for attack.

as for the lasers and shield grabs, try using bair (generally accepted as yoshi's best approach), but when that gets predictable, a lot of times i'll fake the downb (it's pretty respected by most people, as it's the only yoshi move most people who don't play him are familiar with), but just kind of float down and do a nair or a dair ( this works when they hop up to challenge in the air, but it's gotta be timed right and certain characters are gonna out-prioritize it). when you're on the ground with him and he shields, grabs work but don't neglect the egg lay, it's yoshi's most frustrating move and some noobs don't know how to DI quickly out of it (rotate the control stick). it sets up pretty nicely too, but if you don't land it expect to be punished.

falco's not an easy match but you're only going to get better.

I just played a few rounds with a good pika, djpacman, (we've been playing eachother a lot since brawl came out, so we are good at predicting eachother), so i updated the first post with our vids. I took a lot of the advice given to me from the falco matches, so i hope it shows.

Good Yoshi my good man,

The only suggestions i could have is try to use your bair alot more its an AWESOME move to use its quick and does good damage! I have to commend you on your pivot grab its nice you deffinetly have the Yoshi grab skillz lol! Try not to use your down b as much either theres way to much lag on it and its easy for fast chars to counter you when you miss. Also it will become to easy for ppl to predict you in the air if you down b to much. Thats all i can say for now overall nice Yoshi though! keep it up!

If you are talking about the ones vs pika, its good advice, but he knows how to avoid it if i just spam it the whole time, so i like to try and vary my moves as much as possible. If u mean the ones vs. falco then yes i should, and same witht he down bs.

Well Burn i just hope my advice can help a bit! You play a mean Yoshi its always good to see another Yoshi main! Its always good to keep your opponent guessing so i dont want to sound like im saying for you to spam anything to much just enough you know. Another thing work on meteor smashing it really helps! You can kill an oppenent at 60% if you get em good! Especially on falco there, i find its easy to spike spacies since they freeze before they boost for theyre recovery! And with Yoshis slighlty better recovery in this game im not as scared to fight off the edge. Pika is a toughie for Yoshi though for alot of reasons.

KK sounds good. Also Nikes are teh ****, nobody gonna take away my nikes.
And joeshi, i really appreciate all the advice. I really should work on my spikes, fair spikes are just so much harder in this game.

The thing I have to say w/o looking at the vids, create havoc using them eggs. Man, if you can place the eggs at the right time, you can get your killing move off or get your other combos off. A relentless offense can screw up so many people (except some spammers and a few characters). The ETS will help you keep yourself from having ANY openings for your opponent. Just something I wanted to say.

Heh, ATTENTION ALL YOSHI PLAYERS! YOSHI NOW REPS DEM NIKES! PLACE TEH NIKE SIGN ON YO BOOTS AND STOMPS DEM HATERS!

Yea im starting to realize how great RETS are. I have to remember to do them since they havent become a big part of my playstyle yet, but in a match that im gonna upload tomarrow, i do some to counter pikas tjolt spam.

Put another match v djpacman. If u havent watched any of them, those are a little better imo.

I find spacies as some of the harder characters to spike, especially falco with his sideB recovery, It's alot faster than most recoveries and they always do it before i can get close enough "/. Against pikachu though if you time it right you can spike him from his side B recovery, works best with luigi's, but pikachu will ditch it as a recovery after the first few deaths and just use his awesome agility. But yeah, I fight off the edge ALOT now do to the floatiness and yoshi's ability to gimp people way out there.

Dont get me wrong im not saying spacies are the easiest i just find them easy for me. Then again alot of the ppl i play against dont main any spacies so im not playing a full fledged spacey user so to speak lol. Ive gotten a couple of them right b4 they used theyre side b though and man did that feel accomplishing lol. Ever since ive been reading the pika debate easy or not i had my friend use him more as hes a decent pika now that he has its easy to say he could main him, the best part is i find it still easy to win so pika isnt as hard as i thought originally which is awesome! Random question does anyone know of any other Yoshi mainers in NJ besides myself? I would like to know cause id like to possibly meet and play you. There is no other Yoshi mains around me it bums me out! Oh and btw Grindler i agree 100% the floatiness makes Yoshis off edge fighting amazing!:chuckle:

MMkz. Anyways ive realized that if fox or falco are recovering above the ledge with side b, trying to intercept them is stupid. Wait for them to come down, fsmash. Wolf is easyish to gimp.

Went to a tourney on saturday. Unfortunately got no vids (i need to bring a camera next time), and because i had to leave early, didnt place well. I won my 2 singles matches, one of them against the guy who came in 7th, but i had to give him the win because i was leaving =/. On the bright side, i 3 stocked his marth (he was very good but i played the best brawl i ever had, out spacing, barraging him with ets's, and i got a spike at 26% with my fair and edgehogged on the last stock). Anyways, i learned alot from the tourney and have no clue why im posting it in this thread.

Diddy is a hard hard matchup if they know what they r doing and u dont. Diddy can pretty much neutralize your ground game, which would be a neccesity in a matchup against this powerful aerial foe, with bananagames. Well placed bananas limit your options on the ground, and they can be a real pain when thrown. His aerial game greatly outprioritizes yours, so ur pretty much screwed. His side b kick is a good approach, loads of priority, fast, good damage. And if u shield it u risk getting face humped. His recovery is somewhat gimpable, but not his side b, ull get face hump spiked to up b spiked if u try to intercept. I was so annoyed against a tourney diddy i ran off the edge and killed myself. Good news for me is campy robs>diddy =)

Also i think that yoshi has an easyish time against marf. Ken combos can be gay, and if they are good at spacing it can get tricky but pivot grabs are pretty much the greatest thing ever here. You should be getting a lot of damage from eggs. SHing egg throws, RETSs, ECEs, the works =) If you arent able to do all of these things, the match will be harder for you because he'll have less incentive to approach. Dont shield fair approaches, he'll just land behind u and then ull die. Once u realize the power that your grabs have over his sword, the matchup is pretty easy.

Campy toon links are very annoying. SHDA is SOOO anoying. Edge camping in the form of ECEs is a good way to soemwhat combat it, but he can bomb and boomerang u. So yea thats a hard matchup.

MK isnt as hard as u might think. Hes rly hard, but not the worst matchup. Ill give more insight on that later.

And thats my insight i gained from the tourney, and friendlies. Hope it helps and plz help me w/ diddy =P

Diddy.......i'll have to post more about it when I play my friend (maybe tommorrow). His diddy is insane (I might record it sometime), but grabs and counters are the best. I'll give more later.

You can with me. My friend is even, if not a little better due to knowing me too much. So diddy matches will be one hard match-up even if they might suck a little. My thread will have a few matches against my friend and i'll help give some insight.

diddy's rough, his ground attacks have no lag, leading into strings of combos. shielding becomes vital, i think this is one you want to approach defensively, or in the air, though i've never really faced a top diddy player, this is based on diddy vids i've seen.

doesn't egg roll get rid of nanners?

/eagerly awaits bigman's thread

and yes egg rolls do get rid of bannanas (that is how i beat him in the second round) i also remembered his name: UBER

anyone heard of him, i think i saw him as one of the top players on onlinebrawl community

also, i have found that if you approach him quickly enough to attack him before he ets ou the bannanas, then you can defeat him by continuing to be aggressive and no letting him get the chance to lay those inderances down. then all you need to worry about is after he dies, he will have time to take them out. at that point, just grab them and use them to your own advantage

i only know alot of his weakesses because, along with fox, falco, wolf, pikachu, and pokemon trainer, he was a former main before i found my true calling in yoshi

I played Uber. He's decent, but you can get around him. The egg roll DOES NOT get rid of bananas. You still trip. Like I said, I'll have an update on my thread about diddys.

egg roll doesnt work, i tried that =/ Approaching in the air will get u killed, his aerial game has huge priority. Defensive is indeed the way to go, but diddy can approach u with ease. Thanks alot bigman, i appreciate it.

idk, diddy is kind of superior to yoshi in a lot of senses
however he cant just spam bananas and kill you (as uproved by guy at tourney, proved by me)
diddy>yoshi
can't help it, diddy is a pimp

You're right. Diddy has an advantage over yoshi, but yoshi still got tricks up the sleeve if you know what to do. BTW, let us know what we need to work on. I'm pretty sure someone is gonna say that I need to work on my aiming with the eggs >.<
