Smash Master

In my humble opinion, us smash drivers don't get enough credit.
What is a "smash driver"? Simple. A smasher who has a car and can drive, and ordinarily is willing to drive friends to smash tournaments.
Yes, this is another rant blog. There's a left arrow button adjacent to your address bar if you're tired of these. Or stay tuned for an enlightening PSA.
Onto the topic of discussion. I've been driving for 4 years n' some change now and I consider myself a young veteran at it already. My smash driving record likely transcends my actual smash record. Sure, plenty of smashers know me. Some completely new faces at EC tournaments have even known my alias, which has caught me by surprise in the past.
But what am I really known for? Allow me to present my credentials. I have driven people like T0pe and his gang (when I lived in the MD/VA region), Ninjal1nk, \/anz, D|, Al3xStrife, Cr1smas, A||y, (anti-name-searching mechanism) and others to various EC regionals and nationals. More recently at Apex 2010 I drove some Dutch players and Swedish players like Armada and Aniolas to the competition. On my own free will, I drove some fellow Pikachu players that I had finally met at Apex 2010 30 miles away to where they were being housed Sunday night. The problem was, I also was tasked with driving some of the amazing Japanese brawlers home after their interviews that night. I didn't have much time, and after just getting my car back from the impound lot days before (refer to previous blog as to why it was there) my GPS had been taken out for "safe-keeping" so it was not accessible for me during this escapade. But before picking up the Japanese I was required to go back to our hotel and pick up the U-Haul van for Alex, and head back to the venue to deposit our televisions into it for transport. By the time I got back to the venue with the U-Haul, I was pretty late because the Jersey roads confused me a bit with no navigational system. Dozens of angry faces awaited me. You can imagine how flustered I must have been.
No financial compensation for Apex 2010. Most of the time I do not ask for gas money, although I should. I just don't want to come across as a jerk.
It's enough to make a brotha' want to take the train or even sell his car. Bottom line is, your drivers work their a$$es off for you and you should tip them, and respect them. Same goes for your pizza delivery drivers. I'm transferring to a corporate Dominos in the City, and thank God I won't be a driver there. But I digress... this is a 'behind the scenes' and thankless service that we do. So... RESPECT US! And if you're a fellow smash driver and feel the burden, join my new social group ~ Smash Drivers.
That is all. Thank you very much for reading and acknowledging my plight.
