The second installment of our Starkville Tourney series, now with the debut of Melee! With crews, doubles, and singles happening for both games, this tournament is sure to be another one of the premier stops in a growing Mississippi Smash Scene! In fact, this tournament will be a power-ranking tournament for the Mississippi Smash League (MSL), so you will definitely want to come if you want to make your name known to Mississippi smashers everywhere!

==General Info==
-Doors open at 8:00 AM; sign-ups begin
-Crew battles will begin at 9:00
-Sign-ups will close about a few minutes before each event is ready to begin

==Payment Info==
-Venue fee will be $10.00 per person*
-Each singular event will be $5.00 per entrant
*If you bring a full set-up for Smash 4 or Melee, the venue fee will be waived; Smash Dawgs members will also have venue fees waived

==Rulesets==

Smash 4(Doubles/Singles)

• General Rules
  • Double Elimination.
  • Best 2 out of 3 sets, 3 out of 5 for finals.
  • Singles 2 stock / Doubles 3 stock.
  • Singles 6:00 minutes / Doubles 8:00 minutes.
  • Pause Off.
  • No Items.
  • No Customs.
  • Team attack on.
  • All characters and stages must be unlocked.
• Stage / Character Selection:
  • Determine top and bottom seed (ex. RPS).
  • Bottom seed strikes one stage; top seed picks stage from remaining two.
  • Players blind pick character.
  • Set’s winner bans two stages.
  • Loser picks from the remaining starter and counter stages.
  • Winner picks character first, loser counter picks.
  • Repeat until match is complete.
  • Banned stages remained banned throughout the match.
  • Winner can not choose stage previously won on.
  • Any stages may be played on upon players’ agreement.
• Misc Rules
  • Players stalling may result in forfeit at TO’s discretion.
  • Ex. traveling under stage repeatedly.
  • Player may request the opponent to change costume color if the contrast of it blends in
  • with the background.

  • We recommend taking batteries out of wireless controllers in between matches. Wii U Pro
  • controllers can be powered via USB.
  • Victory Conditions
  • Result screens are honored.
  • If time expires, the player with the most stocks remaining wins.
  • If players have equal amount of stocks, player with the lowest damage wins.
  • If a simultaneous KO occurs, players will play another set of 1 stock with 3 minutes.

Melee(Doubles/Singles)

  • General Rules
  • Game Settings: 4 Stocks, 8 Minute Time Limit
  • Items are disabled.
  • Stalling with moves such as Jigglypuff's Rising Pound or Peach's Wall Bomber is banned.
  • Glitches such as Ice Climbers’s Freeze Glitch and Mewtwo’s Soul Stunner are banned.
  • Pause option is disabled in the game menu. If left on, accidental pausing mid match forfeits a stock.
  • You may not choose any stage you have won on during a set, unless agreed by both players.
  • A tie is determined by most stocks taken; and, if still tied, by percentage. If percentage is tied, the match is fully replayed.
  • Playing as Master Hand is banned

  • Life stealing stocks from a teammate is allowed

  • Match Procedure
  • Players select their characters. Either player may choose to Blind Pick. In this case, each player secretly tells a third player their character before picking with the third player verifying their selections.
  • Players play Rock-Paper-Scissors. Winner chooses between selecting controller port or first Stage Strike.
  • Players take turns removing stages from the Neutral Stages list above based upon the results of the previous rule. The first player to strike removes one (1) stage from the list, the second player removes two (2), and the first player then chooses from the remaining two (2) stages.
  • The players play the first match of the set.
  • Winning player of the preceding match bans a stage from the full list of stages, both Neutral and Counter-Pick. Does not apply to Best of 5 sets.
  • The Losing player of the preceding match picks a stage for the next match. Cannot choose the stage banned in the previous step, nor a stage they've already won on during this set, unless agreed.
  • The winning player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.
  • The losing player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.
  • The losing player of the preceding match may change their controller port.
  • Repeat Steps 5 through 10 for all subsequent matches until the set is complete.
*Another note: if you can, PLEASE bring a set-up and/or extension cords. the more set-ups we have, the more matches that can be played, and a more smooth tournament can be run. It's also nice to not have to pay venue fees. Hope to see everyone there!
