I'm talking about instances of powershields happening when shielding out of endlag. How do people feel about these?
I find it to be one of the most frustrating mechanics in the game. Unless a punish on someone's endlag is frame perfect, they get a powershield just by holding shield after a missed attack.
I like powershields as a way to reward quick reaction times, but more often than not they come as a result of the attacker hitting just a little too late.
A hit on shield is usually good for the defender anyways, but powershields allow more deadly options. It gives camping strategies the strongest options to win games.
Maybe I just notice this a lot because I play Yoshi and he can't grab people under frame 10, but it's very annoying and I wish the game were different. It's hard enough to make meaningful damage on a shield. I very rarely break shields with down-B, almost always leaving a little bit of shield and it can be rolled away from most of the time.
Maybe it's just me, but after examining the way shields work - their quickness, their regeneration rate, their range of protection, the thing that frustrates me the most is perfect shields out of lag. Everything else about shields would be manageable if powershields were 'turned off' while a character is coming out of endlag.
