I need something cleared up about the buffer. Do you put inputs in quicker with it or slower to do more technical things? I think it's slower, but I'm not an expert on this or anything. Also, forgive me if there's been another thread on this.

Another thing, though. I've gotten into the habit of not using Falco in PM, although I use him in Melee. For some reason, his wavedash requires a slower input than in Melee. It's the same for other characters, too. It was at normal speed around version 2.6b, but then, for some reason, it got slower. Weird.

Anyways, today, I put the buffer on 300% for Falco because it would apparently help my technical prowess. And for some reason, I could play him with the same speed as in Melee. Just to be sure, I turned the buffer back on and tried to play again, pressing buttons at the same speed. The wavedashing only worked when I played slower.

So...can somebody explain? Do I need to clear anything up?

Norway=)...
10% of buffer = 1 frame of buffer... it only goes up to 10 frames so after 100% it will just be 10 frames...

as for how it works, it makes it so that when you input a move you can input a new move within the 10 last frames of the move you are already doing (assuming you have the buffer on 10 frames) and the game will execute that move on the first frame possible... that's why it's easier to wavedash with falco... you put in the airdodge while you're still on the ground and the game buffers it until you do...

I think I get how it works. My previous thoughts on it were completely off :/

So Falco's wavedash should be the same as in Melee, right? How come it has a different feel? Or is it just my imagination? I guess I'll work on it without buffer anyways, but it just feels odd to me.

In Project M going into the air takes 1 extra frame due to an unfortunate Brawl mechanic so you actually become airborne a bit when you're wavedashing. However this does not affect the length of your wavedash, just the timing is 1 frame different.
