WARNING: THIS IS JUST A REPLACEMENT WHICH USES 3RD PARTY INNARDS! (If you don't want that, then sorry :/ )

This is to those who have broken GC controllers and want to buy it online but are too expensive. (This is only if your innards of the GC controller is broken.)

I don't know if this is right, wrong, smart, or dumb, but it was just my way of getting a GC controller back.

So basically if you have the innards of the GC controller broken but all the buttons (with the rubber under the button to respond.), sticks, and casing is intact, then you're good to go. now all you need is the innards.

Gamestop controllers wont work because they won't fit.

You need to buy this or these(if you need two.) These are third party knock off controllers that has: terrible(and sometimes not working) buttons, stiff Joystick, and a short cord. We can't do anything about the cord but the rest we can fix.

Steps: Replace, simple as that.

Take all the screws off and throw all the buttons, rubbers, and joystick out of the controller.
All you need are the innards of the controller.
Then take your Nintendo controller (with all the components, aside from the innards) and put knock off innards to the Nintendo controller.
The rubber from the Nintendo controller is important!
The rubber that the third party knock off uses are cheap and that's why it doesn't work as well (also the buttons feel terrible.)

Just replace everything from the knock off into the Nintendo and there you go.

Now it may not be right, and some people may disagree, but GC controllers are rare now so it's expensive. It's just for those that have little to no money whatsoever. If it goes against your morale then don't do it.

Results may vary because not all the third party knock offs are made by the same company.
However if this does work, I'm glad it did. Have fun with your new controller~

It doesn't matter how you phrase it. Mixing third party controllers with official Nintendo controllers is just wrong on so many levels. If you're going to use anything, use the outer shell or the sticks. The innards are always going to just fall apart like wet toilet paper after a few weeks (max).

This post creepily foreshadows the day in a few years where pristine gamecube controllers will no longer exist and we'll be forced to either hobble together older controllers into working robocops/frankensteins/abominations or manufacture new ones from the depths of nothing.

Maybe Nintendo will pull it out and make an actually decent smash game for the Wii U, saving us all from ourselves by allowing us to migrate to the 'pro' controller (although I wouldn't recommend counting on it).

That may be true, but the title should have probably explained it was about 3rd party innards instead then.

The off brand controllers that look like normal controllers without the logo are the I've found to be useful for controller repair. The sticks disintegrate too quickly for use, but the rubber button pads under the buttons are usable. The buttons are usable too if you've broken one of those. Besides that, the inner workings of a normal GC controller are much better quality than the offbrand ones.

Yeah but this is for those with that inners broken. I know many people have problems with GC controllers that has messed up Joystick problems or unresponsive buttons. The controllers for these have really cheap plastic and it feels terrible, so I just thought it could help others to just change the inner part and keep the buttons and whatnot.
I completely agree with you on Nintendo brands being much better quality, who wouldn't? Though this is just a way for poor people like me who can't afford new $60+ GC controllers, and those with a complaint on people unknown to them that used the controller.

There's a certain knockoff that seems to make fairly decent controller shells. Though, picked it up at least 2 years ago, was a white knockoff controller.

Later replaced the stiffer trigger springs of the knockoff controller into the Nintendo one, since I prefer the stiffer triggers.

If you get lucky/find the correct company's knockoff, you could probably use the shells for painting or whatever.

Waitttt.... I have controllers that work and look nearly brand new that I snagged for $10... You just got to be patient and search ebay A LOT (newly listed, BIN)

If anyone is interested in buying one for like $15 + Shipping and really wants a good replacement, I have a few of different colors laying around, including orange, blue, and silver off the top of my head
