I had been practicing for the past 4 weeks. After my poor performance at my first tournament down in Massachusetts I had to make a good impression of my skills at this one. I woke up around 9:00 in the morning and was so nervous but I was trying not to show it. I managed to get an hour of practice at home in before I left at around 11:50. When my sister dropped me off the first thing I did was go and have a few friendly matches with some of the other players. Then an hour later we started the tournament. I was in round 2 against a kid named Edmund. At first the kid was bragging about how he was going to win but I shut his mouth after I won the first match.
Then on our second match he managed to pull a win on me and then that was when I told myself to pull it together. I was pretty nervous knowing if I didn’t pull out a win I could be put into loser’s brackets in my first round. I didn’t want to repeat what had happen at my first tourney so I started to really focus. After trying really hard I managed to win the 3rd round and win the set and advance to round 2. I watched the person who I was facing next before I brawled him to see what I was up against. He had pulled off a great KO against his opponent during his round and I tried to place myself in the match and see where I could counter all those moves. I managed to win the first match again against him but then in our second match he pulled a win on me. At first I was like wow but then after I reassured myself about what I’ve learned and what I know about the character that he uses with was link. I tried to put my knowledge of how well sonic does against a link into my play style.
We were tied one to one and we were ready to start our last match for the second round. Things were looking bad when I accidentally jumped off the stage twice but quickly made a KO, or kill back up by grabbing the ledge before he could when he was trying to recover. Then I managed to score another KO and tie things up. I wasn’t doing so well until I managed to land one hit on him that lead to me stringing together combos afterward. I pulled off the final kill by Stage spiking him on the ledge of the stage. He congratulated me and said that he had never seen a sonic like mine before. Everyone was saying that this kid could take the tournament but everything changed after I saw a kid score a magnificent KO against his opponent after my match. I knew that if I faced that kid I was going to have a run for my money. But I couldn’t put together the facts that I know about his character Toon link due to me not practicing against many of them.
When we started our match I managed to score some good KO’s but I couldn’t seem to land my final kill and ended up losing round one. Things weren’t looking good. I knew that this was bad seeing that both my other matches I had won the first match lost the second and won my third. I was doing everything right during our second match, I was landing hits and faking out my opponent as much as possible to try and get him to make a mistake. But sadly I couldn’t recover from my past loss. I ended up losing our second match due to spacing out and I missed my chance to attack and just made it look like I died on purpose. I was very disappointed but at the same time I knew I wasn’t going to beat him. He said that I had more skill than everyone at the tourney and that if I hadn’t made that mistake I could’ve probably won the set.
But my next opponent was the one that caused me to crack completely. I had been using sonic for every match so far and I was facing this kid who was really good with King Dedede. At first in my head I was like I know how to handle this character sonic ahs an advantage being fast and small while Dedede has a disadvantage being slow and huge. But he proved me wrong, he would start to grab me over and over again across the stage and I ended up losing our first match. I managed to pull a victory in our second one but picking the right stage and doing the right moves, but things went wrong when I picked a stage that I thought would work and didn’t. And to make matters worse I couldn’t manage to make the final victory against him when one of his attacks hit me with a critical and I lost my second life. I was down to one life when he was still on his second I managed to rack up damage but couldn’t seem to kill him. Finally, after what felt like forever, I KO’d him and got him on his last life but I was too late. A few minutes after he KO’d me with a head butt and I was eliminated.
He said that the move he KO’d me with was kind of cheap seeing it hit me randomly with a critical. But I was satisfied that I impressed almost everyone there. Some people I brawled even had said that this was the toughest brawl I have ever had which really made me feel good knowing I gave it my all and gave them a hard time. But I was still angry knowing I could’ve did a little bit better if I hadn’t had been so nervous. But there’s always next time. I managed to place 4th out of 12-15 people which was good especially seeing it was my second tournament. But what I think that caused me losing overall was that I got a little over confident and didn’t stay focused enough. Which in a game like this focus is everything, but one thing is for sure. They haven’t seen the last of me and my sonic, that I can assure them. :sonic:

lol... sounds like you fought hard and well KC. Most people get nervous at tourneys and stuff, don't worry too much about it. Sounds like you've learned your lesson about D3: chaingrabs make Dedede.... it's actually quite tough for Sonic. I'm sure you gained exp from the tourney so congrats.

yeah but now I've got a kirby in the ropes waiting to kill any D3 that dares to **** my sonic. But i'm going to a similar tourney on April 4th in Cumberland RI so i plan on getting revenge for my loses.

Seems like you did alright at this tourney but...don't listen to infzy about Dedede. Chaingrabs are important to a Dedede but thats not what he's ALL about. Honestly, Atomsk has ***** many MKs. I main Kirby myself and Korn rapez me, but then again with me vs Korn thats possibly a skill gap as I'm bad and he's semi-pro.
