Apex 2014 Brawl Top 8 Predictions/Competition
Preface (tl;dr in post 2)
My friend and I have a running competition to see who can more accurately predict the top placements for large brawl tournaments. I thought it would be cool to let other people in on it and see what kind of crazy predictions people have. If a thread like this already exists for brawl, let me know.
How it works
The goal is to make it so that the person with the most accurate top 8 gets the highest score. Points are awarded not only for picking the right people, but for getting their placement right/close (ex: if Gardex gets first and you predicted first, that is better than if you predicted him getting 7th).
With that in mind. Pick your top 8 like this:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
5.
7.
7.
Wildcard:
On top of the top 8, I've decided to experiment with adding in a "wildcard" slot: a spot for you to predict a top 8 placement from a complete underdog. For example, Salem would have been a good wildcard for APEX 2013. In order to make sure that people don't just put their 9th place prediction as the underdog, you can only pick a person that is in under 15% of other people's top 8s. (Since I can't calculate this now, just be careful with your wildcard pick). This should be some HYPE-INDUCING fun, as you can basically take a low-risk chance on one of your favorite brawlers.
How It's Scored
Point for a correct top eight: 5 per person
Point for a Close placement: 6 - |(Placement - Prediction)| (done for each person that you had in your top 8)
Wildcard bonus: 8 (was your wildcard in the top 8?)
Winner Prediction Bonus: 4 (Did you correctly predict the winner?)
Good luck, and have fun picking! If you have any questions/suggestions, voice them!
