I don't know! I AM LOST!
Would brawl be better as a casual game or competitive one? Why and what's so different between the choices?

I'm just a person who is in desperate need of these answers. I thought that making this thread would help me find the answers in your discussions. So please feel free to post your opinions on this matter.

I don't like this question because it presents the issue like the two sides have to be mutually exclusive, but that is simply not the case! Brawl should be both casual and competitive! It should be casual first since the game is marketed to a very broad audience of players, but it does not take much to give the game the proper balance to be competitive. According to Gimpyfish's impressions at E4All, Brawl should serve both purposes just fine. Why does the game have to serve one side and not the other?

Completely depends on the player. Some people use games just as a way of getting out of a stressful life for a little while, so they like to play casually and a more entertaining game.

Whereas those like myselves like to play competitively for more entertainment.

Pretty much, it is in every way both casual and competitive. Depends on the person.

I agree with Buzzsaw as it is both. If it was just one or the other then it'd be completely whack.
A game that's too competitive will make picking it up really hard.
A game that's too casual will have almost no complete competition at all.

And yes it really depends on the player.
A player could make the game casual or competitive.
It all depends how you play, how you want to play, and how people aroudn you want to play.

Both, any game will be "Both"
however, i do recommend that you atleast try competative as you start off as casual and you will know the feeling of playing casual but not competative. But try both experiences, you may find competitive more or less fun. After that you can make your choice.
I do not reccomend asking others about which to choose, we dont know what you might perfer, and people will go into debates about this. Overall, just pick one that seems more fun.

The game itself should be developed mostly for the casual crowds like Smash Brothers always has. That way, the competitive players can make it into the competitive game they want it to be. I've said it before; it's harder to turn a competitive game casual than turn a casual game competitive.

In other words, both.
