Brawl "Incredible, and more fun that you could ever dream"?!

I sent the following email to one of the Prima editors, asking if they could share some info to help debunk the roster amount rumors. Unfortunatley but understandably, they couldn't devulge the info, but Mr. Stratton (who has always been very helpful in his emails as well as guides) did give yet another positive outlook on Brawl. Coming from somebody who played the game and made the guide, this is really good.

Mr. Stratton, this is not the first time i've emailed you. I have contacted
you before about Brawl, as well as other guides, and you have always been
very helpful.

My question this time isn't just for me, but for the entire Smash Bros
community. There are two major rumors going on right now. I wont ask you to
reveal a character, as I am sure you arent allowed to give spoilers. But what
I would like to ask is this: does the playable character roster amount to 35,
48, or neither?

There is a major rumor going around about a 35 character roster, and a
slightly lesser rumor about a 48 character roster. I just thought i'd ask
since you have been helpful in the past. Thank you!

Unfortunately we can't give out that sort of information until Nintendo
officially give us the word. The best place to go is the official site and
keep checking for updates. What I can tell you is the game is incredible and
more fun than you could ever dream.

I doubt it. I've already dreamt about Brawl, and that was so much fun that I was sad to wake up.

So I'm not the only one who has dreams like this! I recently had a dream in which I played a demo version of Brawl, and a few of years ago, I had another one in which I quite literally risked my life to get a chance to play a demo of Twilight Princess for about five minutes.

Although if you really think about it, my dreams kinda suck. I only ever get the demo version of anything

Back on topic, though...

This is most excellent to hear. Of course, we all know Brawl is going to be great, but to hear this straight from an editor for game guidebooks, from somebody who has obviously had extensive experience with this game and many others, who knows what to look for in a really good game... I'm more excited than ever now!

Maybe this man doesn't take into account that some people are so exaggeratedly vested on some pipe dream that they've already imagined and dreamed beyond "Incredible", or at least find "Incredible" to lie beyond 40-42 movesets. It's crazy, but I can understand how some people can feel that way. Heck, the only reason I am pushing for the 35 roster is so I can digest it myself, and become less disappointed.

Also, fun and Incredible are subjective terms that don't point either way, roster-wise. Yes I want the 35 roster to be untrue, but I doubt it isn't the real one

If I had read that after playing DBZ BT3, I would expect at least 162 characters.

Why is everyone being so greedy with the 35 character roster? Melee had a few less than 35, and a LOT of clones, making about 23 or so (Distinctly) different characters to play as. 23 + 13 = 35. I would be greatfull to have a 35 character, no clones roster.

Also, 35 decreases Mewtwo's chances. A roster not including a past 100% original moveset demands:

- To be in the game
- For there to be another sequel, and for said moveset to be completely revived in said sequel, along with all other original movesets, and "moar kool thigns".

Guys, "more fun than you can possibly imagine" means just that.

It doesn't mention a roster number, a stage number, a time amount on the SSE, or anything remotely close.

It just says it's really really fun, and it's one person's freaking opinion. One person's freaking opinion who probably isn't as insanely adamant about X or Y character being in as you. Meaning he's not going to have the shared view.


Also, "LOL" at 162 characters.

Just stop.

Well, the game is sort of nothing without the characters. You could say the quality and connection you have with the characters are the conduit of the game modes they are in. Okay, I not make much of the sense, but that is how I feel.

I wonder, BTW - will the stickers have their own info text or will only the trophies supply that? Also, just how many trophies and stickers will there be? And how many ATs/Pokémon? I just wondered what kind of percentual increase we are talking about.

Oh, I agree entirely. I am sorely disappointed that Ridley, Geno, Isaac, etc. may not in the game.


I've just simply already put that possibilty in my head and I am looking forward to enjoying the game itself, not the roster of "OMG 200 CHARACTERS" that people went in expecting.

i dont know. this game is just so under wraps. we have no reason to doubt the 35 roster, but at the same time it just doesnt feel right. all we know is the game will be wonderful.
