Brawl+ freezes shortly after starting up

I don't know what the problem is. I accidentally updated my Wii to 4.1, but it never deleted Homebrew for some reason and I could still load up Brawl+, but it would freeze shortly after . Shortly after that I got the new BannerBomb update and I could play Brawl+ again... for a short time and it has started freezing again. Can anyone offer me some help?
Btw, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place or there was a sticky already dedicated to this kind pf help.

Where does it exactly freeze up?

It typically freezes up at either the character select screen or more commonly the stage select.
What's weird though is that occasionally I can play some matches without it freezing.

You're probably going through the CSS too quickly, typically the game will freeze if you press the buttons too fast when exiting/entering menus that have the CSS. Go through it slowly.

Try deleting Common5.pac in pf/system if you have it

Thanks for the advice. I tried yours, Falco, and it works. For the most part. For some odd reason, it freezes 100% of the time I choose Yoshi, who is one of my mains.
