I've always dreamt about playing Smash online since Melee. I actually DID play 64 online for a while. Of course, the servers were horrible. The game ran at 20-30 fps :/. I just can't wait for Brawl to be released just to stop playing level nine computers!

Anyways, Smash Online will be consuming a lot of our lives for the years to come, so I have some questions to ask:

1) Will Smash Boards support players creating clans. (I'm already in the process of making one).

2) Will Smash Boards host any tournaments online with various inscentives (Wii Points for the winner, exclusive avatar, e.c.t.)

3) Will Online get it's own board?

Thanks, I can't wait to Brawl with all yall!

I've played a lot of 64 on the internet (I don't know when you last played but nowadays there is a good server called Emularena and the game runs at atleast 30-40fps) and I also always wanted to play melee online. I live in Sweden and have never been able to enter any tourney since I have never found any :/. Therefor online mode in Brawl were the greatest news ever.

If you are making a clan I am very interested in joining it.

I guess an online tournament wouldn't be too hard to organize. Of course, many people prefer old-fashioned tournaments, but I imagine several virtual tournies sprouting up, both small and large scale.

I've got a clan (just me and friends in real life, vids are in sig) but I might join another or two. I've never been able to attend a Smash Bros tournament, so I'm really happy about the possibilities of Brawl. Living out in the country (and in UK too) means I'm never anywhere near these tournaments, and I feel left out because of it (loads of members here have been to tournaments :( )

The clans is a possibility, but given the nature of Smash games only being 1v1 and 2v2, its not as big as games where you got tons of players in a game at once.

Actually, fighting games tend to not have clans. They have have the near identical "crews". The difference being that a crew is usually a group of friends or people from a specific area who play together all of the time.

Smash tournaments do have crew battles, I did one at a Socal biweekly in 2006 representing UCSB (it was a UC crew battle).

We'll just have to see. Its harder to get a tight-nit crew when you aren't in the same physical room together.

But then again, no fighting game has really ever had a huge online playing community. So we'll have to see. Smash is very much pioneering online fighting games at a level where they weren't before.
