Bowsercide SUDDEN DEATH!!

it seems that when i bowsercide when we both only have one stock, we end up going into sudden death, but other times i win. How do u control what happens, if it is possible to control?
ive tried DIing up, and also tapping jump. iv also tried not DIing, but the results still seem to happen 50/50. any help is appreciated. thx

if the oppenent moves the control stick they can escape and put you on the same level as them.

I thought it was decided by controller slot?

1 stock each,
Player 2 >Bs Player 1, Sudden Death.
Player 1 >bs Player 2, Player 1 wins.

I could be wrong though, and I don't feel like testing it, you can do it.
