I think it should make a comeback. Also what other new 1P modes do you think could be introduced/brought back?

Discuss.

Race to the Finish, yes.
Board the Platforms, not so much. Link's level was hell.T_T
I'd love to see Race come back with tracks that are custom-made for each character, though, like the others were.

Board the platforms was amazing. I also miss the classic hit sound effects from Smash 64 and think it has the best announcer and audience. Best features.

Since we won't see the last few things, BtP would be enough.

I'd really like to see unique platforming levels based around each character's abilities. I think "Race to the Finish" is a better model than "Board the Platforms" for that, but either way, it and Break the Targets should have character specific levels and be the main piece of single player exclusive content. Add in online leaderboards with built-in replay sharing, and you have something awesome.

Also, I'd specifically like to see multi-man not return. It was zero fun in Melee, and somehow it got even worse in Brawl (I didn't think it was possible, but they found a way). I know it takes very little development effort to include, but even that is definitely not worth it. For the most part you can just "not play it", but you have stuff that's unlocked by playing it. I opened every last box on the challenge board with no golden hammers, and I must say that the "beat 100 man brawl with every character" one was by far the last enjoyable with beating 15 minute brawl being a close second. Yes, I actually had more fun farming coins and blasting them away in coin launcher praying I'd get the handful of stickers I was missing than doing these modes; they're that unenjoyable. Given that I estimate approximately no one would miss these modes, their removal seems like common sense to me.

I loved Board the Platforms. Though with a roster as large as Brawl's or larger, perhaps it's too much to leverage a unique course for each character in the stadium modes... which makes me sad.

I'd love for there to be more stadium modes. And more that can work with up to four players.

BOARD THE PLATFORMS! That's still my favorite Stadium mode in any game in the series so far.

I want the announcer from Smash Bros 64 to come back.

Multi-Man Melee is indeed pretty terrible when it's protecting unlockable content. Hopefully they don't do that in SSB4.

Oh my God, the nostalgia. I remember the day I got the first game, I was with my Grandmother playing Bingo, and I won. She was all, "You should put it away and save it for college or something important!" and I was all "BUT GRANDMA SUPER SMASH BROS IS IMPORTANT." so I bought it at K-Mart, and dove right in, Board the Platforms being one of the first things I did. Immediately fell in love. I'm so sad that they removed it from Melee and Brawl.

Also, Samus and Captain Falcon's were impossible.

What if this time Race To The Finish is actually played against a character on the background?
This guy for example:

He's already the connection among two worlds.

F-Zero X's White Land (Climb Up and Get the Last Chance!) sounds so good with the Race to the Finish games.

I would rather see it combined with break the targets. It mainly served as a method of teaching you how your character could move, along with break the targets which taught you how your character attacked. Could they not combine the two in a sort of training room?

Board the Platforms wasn't that good, many of you are just blinded by nostalgia
You trying to tell me that Board the Platforms was objectively "not that good," and that I just can't see it... because I enjoy it?

Pray tell, what makes Target Smash any better? The fact that you enjoy it more?

I enjoyed both equally in the 64 days, and I can say they're almost the same mode. I would happily welcome back Board the Platforms if Target Smash was gone, but as Target Smash is kinda a staple of the series by now I don't see likely the return of the platforms.

I really did like Board the Platforms in that you had to focus more on jumping and timing more than utilizing clever/different ways to break a target. If this game mode did return however I like to see the utilization of wall-jumps as a necessary means to complete the stage. (Possibly for the last characters you unlock, this is so that beginners will have plenty of time to understand the game and its nuances)

Or perhaps we could have a normal and difficult mode in that normal mode would not require anything incredibly difficult or special to complete. However, hard mode may require things such as bomb/wall jumping in order to finish. (Of course only for characters who can perform said actions)

Ok, this is crazy but... How about a parody of the Street Fighter's barrels bonus stage, with Chunky Kong and Funky Kong throwing the barrels?
It would go well with this music:

The announcer from N64 Smash needs to come back with his epic shouting voice.

Board the platforms and break the targets were fun. Homerun contest was interesting as well. I'd like another adventure mode similar to Subspace but less repetitive and maybe shorter.

I'm glad I'm not the only one wishing for the N64 announcer to come back.

I liked ALL the mini-games throughout the series. Also, yes, Subspace was a bit repetitive, but I'm going to just honestly say that I really liked the length of it.

I missed board the platforms too. They did provide a challenge prior to introduction of adventure mode. It's just for those who want to test their platform capabilities. I recalled that Samus, Captain Falcon and others were the hardest ones. It's been a long time since I played N64 Super Smash Bros.
