I downloaded Project M for the second time recently. I had downloaded one of the older versions last time, and although I found it extremely impressive, I found it clunky and not as good as Brawl.

That is NO MORE! I downloaded version 3.0 this past Friday, and to say I am impressed is a huge understatement. The game plays perfectly, the changed moves and abilities look and operate perfectly, and the new stages and costumes are the perfect way to make a game that PLAYS differently feel upgraded all around. (Not to mention being able to play as Roy, Mewtwo and Dr. Mario... mind blown.)

I guess my reason for posting this is to say thank you! Whoever is responsible for creating Project M are clearly very hard working and talented people. I'm glad my favorite game has such devoted and loving fans who take time out of their lives to entertain fans like myself.

Project M is the perfect way to spend my time while trying not to obsess about Super Smash Bros 3DS and Wii U. I'm now not just looking forward to that, but also to new improvements on Project M that will make an already impressive feat even better!

Cheers Smash Bros fans!

:snake:for 3DS and Wii U!

Welcome to the PM community! Glad you're enjoying it. I only jumped on the bandwagon a few months ago, so I started with the latest version (3.02), but from what I've heard, PM 3.0 is the first one they've released that can be considered a 'completed/final' product. By that, they're generally referring to how a more complete roster of characters is now present (without any major veterans missing; just Pichu and Young Link), a general lack of glitches or awkward clunky-feeling gameplay, as you mentioned, and a pretty well-balanced cast; you can pick up just about any character and be able to hold your own against the majority of your MUs, rather which was unprecedented in any previous smash titles/mods outside of the top tiers.

That being said, in case you were worried about all this 'completed/final' product version talk, there'll still be more updates to come - the Project M Backroom (PMBR) has already announced another update they're working on that's planned for release sometime in the near future (can't remember if they've specified a date/time range). We can at least expect it to include a new versus mode, new costumes, and various balancing updates to different characters based on the developing PM metagame.

EDIT: Doubt this'll ever come to be due to Nintendo's relations with Metal Gear's production company, but...

@ ECHOnce ECHOnce - I meant to say version 3.02 (That's what I downloaded)
I saw the update they posted in Smash Boards with new costumes (Samus, Pit, Ganon, Lucario, Marth) and was quite excited that PM seems to be something that will continue to steadily improve.

I'm really hoping I don't grow completely accustomed to the play style and changed movesets before 3DS and Wii U versions come out... I just want PM to tithe me over... I don't want to switch! But seriously... PM's Lucas is one of the most fun Smash Bros characters I've ever played as. His movements are so fluid and getting combos has never been easier.

:snake:(Chances being slim is when he needs the most support!)

TBH, Smash 4's physics mechanics are completely different. For the sake of putting it simply, PM could be likened to a game with 90% Melee physics as a base with a few Brawl mechanics snuck in here and there, and Smash 4 will be a game with 90% Brawl physics as a base with some previous Brawl mechanics being sped up, changed otherwise, or removed. If you do get really into PM competitively, you won't have a very smooth transition. But TBH the worst that can happen even then is having 1-2 weeks of adjusting to it, which in the long-run won't really seem all that bad. If you're playing casually though, and not developing "good" Melee habits by committing basic tech like wavedashing and jump-cancelling grabs to memory, then you don't have to worry about it; Smash 4 definitely feels more like Brawl in terms of mechanics, and those "good" Melee habits transition into it as "bad" Brawl/SSB4 habits. If you don't plan on practicing those, you're all set aha.

Now that I think about it, when I first started playing PM, I couldn't do anything... I kept falling off the stage and getting slaughtered by the CPU. Now that I've been playing it a few days I've been the one doing the slaughtering. I'm sure whichever game I play I'll adjust to... Have you already played SSB4? Best Buy?

Also, Have you noticed that the CPU in PM is way more intelligent than the CPU in Brawl. They actually know how to use the items correctly AND they don't just constantly target me specifically. They fight each other too!
