Dirty Duck
Smash Apprentice
Hey guys, this is the second Smash tournament hosted by my website Blaklight Society. The tourney aims to be fun for all skill levels and at the last tournament we had a small turn out of varying experience, but still had a fun time. Here's a short lil trailer made from some clips from the first tournament.
There is a small prize of $30 in eShop credit up for grabs for the winner of the singles bracket, and this may end up increasing, though no promises.
The tournament's singles bracket is scheduled to take place on the 3rd of July at 20:00 GMT, though this is subject to possible change.
Should there be enough entrants, a double's bracket will be hosted later on in the month.
The matches in the tournament will also be uploaded to YouTube. All matches will have replays saved and sent to myself, who will then record them and upload them with commentary (if you wish for a certain match to be posted without commentary, I can post it unlisted)
To sign up for the tourney you must make an account on Blaklight and follow the guidelines in the Smashlight II topic.
Rules;
3 Stocks | 8 minutes | Items Off | Customs Off
Sets will be best of 3 (with the finals being best of 5), with a double elimination format meaning if you lose 2 sets you are out of the tourney.
Sudden Death will determine who wins if it comes to it. (this is up for debate if you guys don't like this)
No character lock.
Bracket will be hosted on challonge.com
Mii fighters allowed (with no equipment)
Legal Stages;
Starter:
Battlefield
Final Destination (This includes all Ω forms of stages, all Ω effectively count as FD)
Lylat Cruise
Town and City
Smashville
Miiverse
Counterpick:
Halberd
Castle Siege
Duck Hunt
Wuhu Island
Skyloft
Delfino Plaza
Set Instructions;
1.Choose your characters, no information has to be exchanged for this step
2.Decide who will strike a stage first (this means choose a stage from the "Starters" list to ban for that game)
3.Take it in turns to strike 4 stages in a 1-2-1 order (this means the player decided to strike first picks one stage, the other player then picks 2 stages, and the player who struck first then decides which stage to play on from the remaining 2)
4.Begin the first match
5.The winner of the first game chooses 2 stages from the list of both Starters and Counterpicks to ban for the remaining 2 games.
6.The loser of the previous game chooses a stage to play on from the remaining stages.
7.The winner of the previous game announces their character choice.
8.The loser of the previous game announces their character choice.
9.The next match begins.
10.Repeat steps 6 through 9 for the final game.
Note:If the stage you are deciding on is Final Destination and you wish to play on an Ω, inform your opponent which Ω you are choosing.
IF THIS PROCESS IS TOO COMPLICATED FOR YOU, YOU CAN AGREE WITH YOUR OPPONENT TO JUST CUT THE BULL**** AND AGREE ON A STAGE FROM THE LEGAL LIST.
If you are competing please ensure you have enough memory to save replays, as after the first sets are complete replays of all games in the winners bracket must be saved and sent to myself (NNID TheThirdChild) Decide who will send the replays before beginning the set, and for convenience sake please add a caption to each replay illustrating which of the replays was 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of the set.

Being completely transparent here, whilst I myself love Smash Bros and would probably have hosted this tourney regardless of the site, this is also an attempt to pull in some more cool members to be a part of our community, so please, if you do enter, have a look around and check the place out. I'd really appreciate it.
