Big Problem

Alright, so my USB N64 controller came today. I set it up with the N'rage plugin and got it working perfectly for both Project64k AND Mupen64k. So, of course, I tried playing online via Kaillera. I quickly discovered that about 99% of all players used Project64k to play Smash...so I decided to use that. I joined about 8 - 10 different games, and had to leave every single one of them. Why? Either I couldn't move my "cursor" to select my character, or my OPPONENT couldn't move his/her cursor to select his/her character. Basically, whenever I was in a game where I wasn't hosting, I was the one who couldn't control anything on the screen. When I DID host, I COULD control my cursor, but my opponent couldn't. What's this mean? My ping is 94, which is really bad, and I suspect it's because of my picky router. However, I don't know of any ports I can forward to help the situation. I've seen people with really high ping playing games - why can't I? If anyone has any tips at all to help me, I'd greatly appreciate them, because right now, I'm perfectly set up to go, but I still can't play...

oh yeah i forgot i use N-Rage
well this is what you need to do
go into configure controller plugin
then go to modifiers tab
click add new modifier
then assign a button to the modifier
(ok guys jk jk jk lol)

this is what you really need to do:
go into the controller pak tab
uncheck Raw Data
host a few 4 player games
this is normal to be unable to move in other peoples games and they cant move in yours for the first few games after you turn off raw data
but after a few 4 playe games then everyone should be able to move
then you can host 1v1s and join other peoples' games and be able to move
