did the melee people at oxnard behave disrespectfully? No. . . the only reason why anyone would be tempted to bring that up is if someone said "HAI GUYZ PLZ DON BASH ON BRARWL CUZ ITS MEEN" and brought it upon themselves.

It's a reasonable request for the credibility and integrity of the tournament organizer to ask his participants to respect his tournament and his venue. He's going out of his way to host a tournament for the community, and all he wants to clarify is that he won't tolerate what a lot of tournament organizers have at tournaments in the past. Please don't be so bitter about a rule set. Some people don't pay attention to the drug or alcohol rules because most that end up doing it at the tourneys are chill enough to get away with it and not bother anybody. Try to think along the same lines with these rules.

You guys were infinitely respectful at Oxnard, and I thank you for that. I look forward to the same kind of atmosphere with this tournament.

I like this analogy better: A bunch of people are at a movie theater trying to pay attention to the screen, except a group of like 5 or 6 people keep turning on the lights randomly throughout the movie. Then when someone gets up and says, "Keep the lights off!", the light switchers are like, "What lights? You're just imagining things and trying to start trouble. But it makes me want to turn the lights on now that you're saying not to. Just sit back down and keep watching the movie because nothing is actually happening."

It's just distracting and unnecessary. You guys are free to go take a 5 minute walk outside the venue to talk about how terrible Brawl is. If any Brawlers talk bad about melee, we will tell them to do the same. It's just a minor rule, so please take it with a grain of salt.

Brawl is good.
Melee is better.

If Brawl vs. Melee is dead, then why is there such a fuss about the rule set? If it's not a problem then there should be nothing to whine about. We're not trying to create more tension between the two communities than already exists, you guys are just perceiving it that way because nobody ever says anything about it. All we're doing is listing a rule that we are going to enforce. If people can't meet those expectations, then they should be aware of the consequences. End of story.

I could say that Melee sucks, but it doesn't. I would instead like to say that constantly bashing games that you don't like sucks, and it doesn't matter what game you're coming from. I'm not out to "get anyone back" for talking trash about my game, I just want all trash talking to not take place at all. It's bad enough that everyone else makes fun of us for playing "those dorky, stupid video games" competitively, so why do we have to make fun of our own kind and further alienate ourselves from one other?

You keep on saying how I don't get it or how I'm inferior to you in some way, yet you haven't disproved or refuted anything that I have said. First, take quotes from my previous posts and do that so I can actually understand how I don't get it.

For future reference, this is the way a debate/argument/discussion works: I give my opinion on the issue, then you respond with why it's not correct. Then, if I have anything else to say about why my opinion is still correct, I state it afterwards. Then the cycle keeps going back and fourth. Let's try that format from here on out.
