Smash Journeyman
Recently on Galaxy I have been playing on the stages only accessible by the use of GS codes as long as the other players who join my games are willing to. I've found them quite fun. The Beta stages, which look similar to Dreamland, are sorta goofy because you can grab a lot of the ledges. However, I have found the How-to-Play stage (also similar to Dreamland, but with a lone platform on the left), the Fighting Polygon Team Stage (Battlefield), and Metal Mario stage are quite fun to play on.
"How-to-Play" Stage: This stage is really interesting because it's like a Final-Destination type stage but with a single platform on the left that changes everything. The main issue with this stage is that it is that the stage itself is closer to the right blast zones, meaning you will die very early on the right and live longer on the left. Also, you appear in the hourglass circle if you're at all off the left side of the stage, making edge-guarding difficult. The music is really catchy though, and with the blast zone issues aside its fun to play competitive 64 on and not overly gimmicky.
Fighting Polygon Team Stage: This is essentially 64's version of Battlefield as you probably already know, and it is unfortunately not unlock-able through normal play. The platforms are very large compared to 64's character models and the blast zones are very far away, making this a big stage. For competitive play, top platform camping is an issue, but I don't think the stage is overly silly either.
Metal Mario Stage: This stage is really neat and was included in Project M as you may know. The lone, wide platform and the curvature of the stage makes it interesting to play on. The blast zones are also HUGE, favoring characters such as Jigglypuff who have good horizontal recoveries.
Conclusion: Try these stages out with competitive play on kaillera. They're a lot of fun and competitively viable. Obviously, these shouldn't be allowed in tournament due to the requirement of a Gameshark, but they are still worth checking out and fun to play.
