who doesn't mindgame? I can dashdance, WD, shffl, and he doesn't do that . . . I feel like I'm having a harder time beating him than I should. Any tips?

You use Falco, know tha advance tech, and cant beat your friend?

For anoying and destroy mind game the best is the G&W bell (i don't know how it says in english)

But if your friend can beat you (or almost) and he can't do the advanced tech, maybe it's because you do the same again and again, and your friend can read your movements, and know what to do at time...

Watch more your enemy and no do the same again (the pilars of Falco)

PS: I asume you use falco -.-

You have a very incorrect definition of "mindgame" implanted into your head. Mindgames aren't advanced techniques, they are the choices that you and your friend make when you play and why you guys make them.

Ironically, he has better mindgames than you think. He is able to predict you enough to not need advanced techniques to put up a decent fight. If anything, he has better mindgames than you do.

If you know the general advance tactics, and can't beat him, it's probably because of your playing style.

My guess is you probably play an offensive Falco, if that's the case, loose up a bit and stop approaching him with shb, instead split it 50/50 where you are laser camping and he approaches you, he's more likely to make a mistake. When you approach him with shb, you can grab, dashdance to make him dodge and take advantage of that situation, or shffle/shine. Those are just some possibilities.

BTW, I'm under the same assumption that you play Falco.

Basically, just predict what he will do, and stop attacking him. I'm getting the sense you're probably approaching him (with any character) and he knows exactly what to do to stop you.

mindgames are things like dash-dancing repeatedly and charging in and attacking before they can react. The idea is to fool them, not just wavedash in circles all day long. Act like u r going to attack, then catch him charging a smash attack or something. Someone once said that if you overthink something that doesn't think (or at least thinks less) you're gonna get pwned. Maybe thats the case here?...

That's why he got everytime owned, falco's players (almost all of them I played with) use that only, so with Yoshi is so easy to own them, because is easy to see when tehy are going to do the same, pilar, or chaingrab, because they two are very predictable when you get used for them.

Sometimes, the best way to mindgame an opponent,is to not mindgame at all.

I remember reading a quote once..

"If you try to out think an opponent that doesn't think, you might get caught off gaurd with randoness."

The reason it can be hard for you when facing your friend might be because he's metagaming. That can occur when you play alot with each other. You just fall into ruts and he can guess.

Well, I not only use Falco, but CF, Marth and Fox . . . But I do try to get him to attack by dashdancing and WDing, maybe I play too offensive. Also, I rarely spotdodge.

I'm mark, and i like this cookie monsta.
ewe'r nawt dat dum! (check the sticky and use the character specific)

it doesnt matter that he misses an attack, its that you attack him. if he keeps missing attacks and you dont attack but just mindgames him, its not gonna go anywhere. you can't kill people with wavedashing lol

anyway, spotdodge more often and then punish when he misses an attack,

ex. you run towards him and wavedash back, he attacks. after he attacks and is in ending lag, use a dash attack or something and then combo up. (dash atttack->shffl nair, ect.)

have fun.

Your perception of mindgames is all wrong. Mindgames involve how you act and how your opponent reacts or vice versa. Just figure out how he reacts to and make sure you don't react to predictably, don't spam dash dances, WDs, Shffls or any moves with too much lag as it will make you predictable and leave you with many vulnerable spots.
