x + a, x+ c stick, or something else? My hands can do x+a faster (sliding right thumb from x down to a), but sometimes I get a full hop fair. Getting my right thumb from x to c stick fast enough is hard, although FALLING fair is easier with the c stick. What do you guys recommend for sh rising fair?

I recently mapped my L button to Jump. So far its helped me a ton when doing quick/rising SH aerials.

If you do not wish to do any remapping of your controls, I'd suggest going into training mode for a while and practice X + C Stick for a while.

I use x to jump and use c-stick for most aerials. From playing Melee/PM I'm used to using the c-stick quickly; however the main advantage of it is di-ing while you're doing the aerial so you can space more efficiently.

Just read elsewhere that you can use x + z as well. Might give that a try, that sounds easier.

EDIT: nvm z just air dodges lol. I think I'm gunna stick with x+a. It comes out much faster than my x+c stick

I rotate every button clockwise on the face of the controller to get a 'slide from top right to bottom left' ergonomic, as with the GCC's X->A. So Y is special, X is mostly unused, A is jump, and B is standard. SHFFing is effortless on 3ds/Pro Controller like that, as you get an easy slide input.

If you have a GCC adapter, or otherwise don't much care for rebinding controls, I've found that rising shorthop aerials are best done with slide inputs-- unlike regular SH aerials where you short hop, let your brain register that you SH'd right, and THEN aerial, instead you slide from jump to attack before even leaving the ground. It takes confidence, since you don't get to do the usual 'hit attack right when you'll hit' sort of method.
