Hey, I am very new to this community! I have recently bought a wii, GC controllers, GC memory card, SSM, wii2hdmi.
I only miss a great tv to play on. I am aiming for the best optimal Melee setup for playing with Friends.
My biggest goal is to have a setup with the wii so it is good color, contrast, low input lag and a big enough screen.
I want it to be minimal input lag with a big tv screen (44 inch maybe?). What do you suggest?
I have read on another post where they say the component cable is much better than the hdmi adapter to wii. So I am not sure what to use actually.

I really appreciate any kind of answer to this post, and sorry for my bad english.

All Flatscreen (LCD) TVs unfortunately have huge amounts of lag. Some Gaming flatscreen TVs with low input lag have been released in the past two years or so but they are still well behind gaming monitors in terms of input lag. Even the lowest latency gaming monitors will have some small delay when you connect to them via HDMI or component (if they accept the input). The delay is very small, half a frame on average, which is low enough to get used to very quickly but it's substantial enough that it just feels slightly off compared to a CRT setup.

If you want a CRT that accepts component input, you will have to buy a professional video monitor, for example a model from the Sony PVM series. These are very sought after in the retro gaming scene and demand huge prices. You might be able to find a good deal locally if you keep an eye out for a couple of months. They also tend to be rather small, below 25 inches in diagonal but of course the image quality is absolutely flawless.

If you want something of the size you're looking for, it would probably be best if you go for the biggest crt you can find locally. Unfortunately, you will only be able to play with the standard composite or scart cables.
I also think 40+ inches in size might be a but too large because you'll have to move your eyes a lot or maybe tilt your head when in-game actions shifts quickly from one side of the screen to the other. But that depends mainly on the distance you plan on staying from the screen. In my experience, 30-35 inches is plenty and I think you might have troubles finding crts much larger than that, but I could be mistaken.

Also, beware of more modern CRTs as they can have large amounts of input lag as they may use some sort of image processing, like the ones that advertise as "100hz" or "flatscreen-crt". You can find more Infos on Crt lag in this post in Kadano's optimal setup thread.
I also recommend reading the first post in the thread for more information on better quality setups.
