Smash Journeyman
Ever since I switched from the 3ds to the Wii-U and I noticed that my timing as been off. It is most noticeable when fighting Master Beast. Every time I fought him on the 3ds, I could simply attack him and then perfect shield his counterattacks. Very easy for me, even on 9.0. When I switched to the Wii-U version, I would whiff all of my perfect shields, and I heavily suspect it is the delay on my screen.
On the 3ds, I would simply smash attack him until the split-second I see him go for a counterattack, and then bring up my shield just in the nick of time. On my monitor, there might be a 1-2 frame delay between Master Beast's attack, and when I actually see the attack, giving me less time to react. Combine that with another 1-2 frames of lag from my wireless controller, I am actually not able to properly respond for 2-4 frames, forcing me to whiff the perfect shield.
I seriously hope I'm wrong, a new tv would be expensive to get. In case I'm right about my monitor's lag, how do you find a good monitor for smash? Is it a good idea to try to run smash on a smaller screen? Are there any settings I can use to reduce this issue?
