Best method for practicing L cancelling

Hey everyone. I came across a few suggestions from people about the best way to practice L cancelling by yourself. I forget which threads I found this info from so I thought I'd make a thread about it and get your opinions.

I know turning stars on high and versing Bowser are common suggestions but I'd rather not wait for stars to appear.

Also I apologise if I'm wasting space by making a new thread. If any mods want to close it then I understand. A link to the information would be nice though

You might wanna try practicing it in training mode first actually.
