So... I'm pretty nooby when it comes to playing melee and am only fresh into computer terminology. I recently acquired a MacBook Pro with a 3.1 GHZ i7 processor and 16GB of Ram.

I was wondering if anyone out there has come up with an optimal setup using a MacBook Pro and/or if it is even possible to make Mac hardware work properly? Can Mac hardware even handle Doplhin, Melee ISO, and the online components at 60FPS or close to?

If this isn't possible or hasn't been done, what kind of suggestions would you have for me? Does it make more sense to get PC laptop with the necessary criteria to make this work? Should I build my PC? And, if that's the case, my budget is anywhere from $750-$1,000 to get a PC play Melee netplay at as close to 60FPS as I can.

Any comments or constructive help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm looking to take Melee more seriously and have heard Netplay is the way to go in aiding personal improvement. Thank you in advance - and keep on grinding that tech skill!

You can get dolphin running on a mac, but I don't know how optimized it is. See the Mac section here. If you used Windows, your laptop would probably run Dolphin and Faster Melee just fine. I think your laptop will probably run Dolphin fine on Mac (there is no FM for Mac) but as I said, I'm not sure. Worst case you could "dual boot" Windows and OSX, meaning you install Windows and whenever your PC starts up, you choose between OSX and Windows.
In terms of input lag, your laptop's screen will probably have a lot of input lag. If you can connect your Laptop to a gaming monitor or even better, a CRT monitor, you will have little lag using the gaming monitor and no lag with the CRT Monitor.
