Best first party Controller?

Heya,

I've seen several discussions about 1st vs. 3rd party controllers but I'm still wondering which first party controller is the best. Are there actually differences worth mentioning? I have practiced on the old standard black controller for a while now but had a bit of a problem with my analog stick where I reverse-laser out of a dash frequently as Falco. I ordered the old standard purple controller thinking it would help but even though the controller input is more consistent now it's still not 100% accurate and I still turn around on accident. So now I'm thinking about getting the new smash edition controllers but before I go and order one of them I want to get a general idea of which controller is the "best". Should I go for a specific old version like the normal japanese white controller? (They seem to get alot of praise). Or are the newer controllers better?
Feel free to share your opinions.

Greetings

I've played quite extensively with all 'generations' of the controllers i.e. the OG controllers with the short cable, Japanese white one (Brawl) and new Smash 4 ones.

Controllers are very case by case so overarching comments won't necessarily apply to all however here are my comments:

1. The Japanese white ones tend to be the most consistent in that they all tend to play fairly well after the initial break in period (if you buy them new). They feel great except for the triggers which have a bit of resistance when pressed at an angle.

2. I liked the Smash 4 one the least. The finish made them feel plastic-y and they felt a bit more hollow for some reason. I also feel like they take forever to break in. The triggers offered that same resistance I described as above.

3. The OG ones will have a lot of variance because you can only really buy them secondhand. If you're after consistency

Overall, all three generations are still high quality. In my experience, I've have some OG controllers play fantastically but have had my fair share of duds. If you want to save money, probably go for one of the newer controllers since they are less unpredictable.

If you're debating between a black and a white sm4sh controller, go for white. I've seen more consistency in the white ones when it comes to triggers and shied drop angles. If you're looking for an "og" controller, go for a 2008 japanese white controller. As far as I know, they retain the consistency and parts of the initial gamecube release controllers, but they aren't 16 years old

I have relatively easy access to brand new japanese white controllers. I've bought one brand-new recently, and it works much better than my OG silver one. This might just be because I've had my silver one for years and it's hard for me to do shield drops and stuff, but I think it's best to find a japanese one brand new from a local store, or online if possible.
