Unfortunately I'm one of the many who missed out on the gamecube adapter so I've had to master the gamepad/2ds to compensate. One switch in the control setup that has really helped me is to switch the y button to shield/dodge. Having them right next to each other helps me evade and short hop to air dodge better methinks.

So how do you guys modify the controls to play better? It can be official (change the button layout) or unofficial (hard controller mods which I don't know a lot about admittedly) as long as it's tourney friendly. I'd like for us to help each other out to get better as much as we can.

I'm using the WiiU Pro Controller until adapters are back in stock. And by the time they are in stock I might even love the Pro Controller so much I won't want an adapter...

ANYWAY

what I do is switch my Y button to Grab. That way I jump with X still and my grab button is in a great spot.

And then I set ZL and ZR to Shield/Dodge because default it's on L and R.

I also turn off tap jump cause eww.
