Hey, I have had SSBM since I was a little kid, like nine years old? I'm fifteen now.

Same ol' story, I was one of those kids who thought that I was unbeatable and just spam smashes until the enemy was off the arena then smash again, hahaha.

I heard of the advance techniques over at the Nsider Nintendo forums (where I had 12,000+ posts) but never got the hang of wavedashing so gave up. Unfortunately they closed down the forums in September for the stupidest reasons ever.

So I started to play smash again recently, it's my friends disc cause I sold mine way back when. I started practicing the beginning of this week. As you can see in the video (if you can see anything) I'm having trouble with a LOT of things.

(Once again I apologize for the bad quality of the videos. I'm pretty sure you can get the gist of what is going on.)

Yeah go easy on me... I only started to play with advance techs a few days ago!

I'm having trouble on the following things:

SHFFLing
SHL/B (As you can see I always manage to get it above Fox's head... I barely hit him!)
Wavedashing (Whenever I wavedash I either mess up on the short hop and jump too high or the ****ed power shield tries to pull itself out because I hold onto L too long.)
Pillaring (I need to get used to L canceling for aerials)

Any specific advice other than "you suck" will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

That was ok, though i could hardly see what was go on. You need to watch more falco videos.

Haha thanks for the advice. I try to watch as many bombsoldier matches as I can, but I can never seem to get the SHL/B down... It's Short Hop - Blaster - Fast Fall right?

And yeah sorry for the video quality, I'll try to get a better recorder.

yeah the video was real hard to tell, but from what I could see you should start short hopping more and really abuse the SHL. Also work on combos, start looking at the guides and videos in this section.

For SHL, you're hitting the Blaster too early. The timing's kind of sensitive, but just vary the difference in time between hitting B and down until you figure it out. Then just practice that until it becomes muscle memory.

The good thing (for practice purposes), is that there's a point where, even though you hit B before down, the laser doesn't come out. That means that you can recognize that as the shortest timing, and your overshots as the maximum timing, and try and narrow down your own timing in between them. So if you're shooting too high, wait longer to hit B. If the laser doesn't come out, hit it earlier. Once you've found the timing, practice it as much as you can so it becomes muscle memory.

As for L-canceling, well, I'm not particularly good at it myself, but I know why. If you practice SHFFLing too much, you begin to remember the L-cancel timing in relation to the time you attack, as opposed to the time you hit the ground. Just focus on separating the attack from the L-cancel in your muscle memory, and attach L-canceling to landing time instead. That should help.

As for wavedashing, whether or not you short hop tends to be irrelevant. Here, you just have to figure out the timing between hitting the jump button and L or R. If you do your jump and nothing else, you hit L or R too early. If you airdodge, you either hit it too late or didn't have the control stick at a sufficient downward angle.

Then, for SHFFLing itself, just focus on perfecting one part, then adding the next, making a sort of chain. First, make sure you can short hop consistently. Then add the attack. When you can short hop and attack consistently, add the fastfall. Then, finally, practice L-canceling it. Just be careful not to inadvertently associate the L-cancel timing with the timing of the attack, and make sure you associate it with the time you land.
