Somewhere in this discussion somebody posted a trick where you can instantly cancel your double jump with Witch Twist to retain your double jump. This is why I think if you want to play Bayonetta technically, you need to change your jump button to left trigger so that you can instantly cancel your double jump easier. Thoughts?

Let me drop the truth bomb, the one and only config
GC-Controller
z Jump
x Grab
r attack
c-stick attack
z jump so you can aerial with c-stick
c-stick to attack so you can nAir with c-stick
r to attack so you can extend/shoot with your c-stick aerials

I've been thinking about this as well. I've been having trouble getting the second WT in a combo (like witch twist -> ABK -> ABK -> jump -> Witch Twist) so I though changing either a shoulder button or Y to jump would help.

It's literally the optimum. There is no other method to use the c-stick as freely. L and R are too ****ty.
whats wrong with L and R? not using the triggers to grab and shield seems confusing to my hands

EDIT: how do you shield with this config
EDIT 2: how do you nair with c stick
EDIT 3: how do you smash attack with c stick
EDIT 4: how do you jab with c stick
EDIT 5: what happens to the A button
EDIT 5.1 or the Y or L buttons

shield with L
nair with diagonal c stick
yo don't need a c stick to smash, it's easy enough with regular inputs
you jab with a or c stick diagonal input
nothing happens to the a button. I use it for SH RAR bAir and smashes
Y is shield but I don't use it much. L is my regular shield.

Why doesn't everyone just learn to play claw? >.>

Even if you don't need it for Smash, it's useful for pretty much every competitive game out there.

because I'll use claw for hearthstone or tf2
That's cute.

You know I meant any game you play with a controller.

And just to spite you I'm going to hook up a controller and play TF2 with claw.

And claw grip my iPhone to play Hearthstone.

just get a pro controller, and you have clicky triggers to jump, and an extra button on L to use for shooting.

There are a few reasons why I wouldn't suggest that.

1) it's a circular guard vs an octagonal guard. octagonal is much better in smash 9 times out of 10.

2) you cannot play claw with a pro controller. sure, your intention is to remap jump, but there are plenty of other situations where you have to remap things to make things easier that you can do without remapping just by playing claw.

3) they have a habit of interrupting tournaments. sol has actually had problems with his controller on stream before. some people have even accidentally turned off the console while other players were playing a game trying to turn off the controller. they aren't even legal at all tournaments. so if you have any aspirations of playing competitively I would not get used to a pro controller.

Me:
  • Tap jump off
  • Rumble off
  • A+B smash off
  • C stick B moves
  • L trigger jump
(Holding down and hitting C stick left or right does a dive kick)

why rumble off? preference? there are volume and rumble indications to give you early indications before they appear on screen. (much more so on pro controller, but gamecube still has some). so is it your preference?

Pro has no octagonal gate and a ****ty c stick
Also I don't like the layout in general

Just preference kinda rumble makes me miss time things and lose focus.

I'm a vibe off guy myself. Have been since I played Halo competitively. It can definitely help when playing under pressure to not have your controller shaking like crazy on hit.

For those having trouble with the Hadoken input to get the downward side-b, bstick makes the move a breeze. Just side-b with the cstick but hold down on the analoug stick. Makes b reverses very simple as well.
