Honestly, this would be a great idea. Not only do Battletoads really lend themselves really well to brutal combat, they have several toads with multiple bodily transformations to use for smash attacks. I don't know who officially owns the franchise, but Nintendo had most of the games. Sega Genesis had BattleManiacs at least.

I have an Gameboy game of Battletoads. I don't know where it is, though. :(

I think BT is owned by RARE.

One of my most played game from when i was alittle kid.

Its sheer coolness was just matched by its RIDICULOUSLY INSANE DIFFICULTY.

Im totally in favour of This guys to appear,,,,, but their chances are less than slim!!..

Good one tho. Maybe they are just too brutal and cool for smash ;)

I was playing Battletoads and double dragon with a friend on an emulator. Even with savestates, it took us forEVER to get past some of those levels. Seriously, that's the hardest game anyone has ever made.
Is there not already a thread for the 'toads? Interesting- they were pretty popular, no?
But, yeah, they'd be pretty cool. One thing that'd make them different is that their running attack would probably have the strength of a smash attack.
Which BT would you want most?
