Bair Help

I really like Lucas' Bair. It has good priority, range, spiking capabilaties, and is hard to dodge. I am just having trouble applying it because I feel like to use it you have to jump past or through your opponent, or be facing the other direction when you start your jump. I feel like there is something I am missing.

How exactly do some of you apply Lucas' Bair? I just find myself using Fair instead most of the time because that's the way I'm naturally facing, and while this is a good move is has weaker killing and combo capability. Thanks for the help.

I tend to use it most out of shield when the opponent lands behind you. If they land directly behind your shield you can shorthop slightly forward out of their range and hit, or you can jump further back if they retreat.

I'd imagine that if you get the timing down it'd also be pretty killer to drop from the ledge to a backair for enemies aiming to sweetspot.

I use b-air as an approach. You need to be a good distance from your opponent. Run towards the enemy, then tap the direction away from the enemy, jump (short hop), then hold forward and attack. The result is that you'll be moving at a good horizontal speed while doing the triple hexagon back kick.

Practice this in training and it will come naturally to you during matches.

use the auto rar to perfect this attack. When you rush at your opponent just auto rar and short hop or normal jump. You will be in the air in front of them with your back facing them. Then just do your bair and it will spike them to the ground. With the time you have to land, you can easily dsmash or fmash or even up smash. That is how i utilize this attack.

If you B-Stick, using your Special Attacks for your C-Stick it's easy to short-hop reverse aerial.

While dashing, hit the control stick the opposite way you're dashing and you'll automatically shorthop facing the other way. Just keep your control stick held the way you were previously dashing and hit A, and you'll do a reverse aerial.

It's really hard for me to do, because I want to actually make contact with the enemy instead of staying at a range. With Fox, my more played character, has a B Air that requires me to get pretty close. I tend to gimp the reverse aerial and only hit with the first hitbox which is weak damage and knockback, which means I get really punished for messing it up. I just really need to learn how to use the attack early to hit it with the last hitbox for great damage and knockback.

Kainsword it shouldn't be too hard to autorar into bair. I do it more than my shnair or shfair. and when it hits the opponent they are sitting on their *** waiting to be smashed.

Yea that's working well MTFFFG, thanks. I almost always hit them with the tail end of the Bair when it lands, which spikes them to the ground. I find using a dash attack or utilt is the best way to follow this up because my opponent can almost always roll away or shield a Smash attack, usually ending in me getting grabbed.

Oh and yea I've been trying to use it as a finisher by chasing people below the ledge and getting them with the spike, pretty hard to do but awesome when it connects.. I play against a Pit mostly and he just has so many movement options in the air. PKT2 and PKFire just don't work that well vs him cause he has so many deflectors. I've actually been getting some good kills with his downB charge shield on the edges lately.

I sometimes use B-air as an offensive approach. I would run towards the enemy, switch my direction and let my momentum take me towards the enemy and hit them with a B-air.

I also like to use it as a method of messing up the enemy's recovery back onto the stage. Depending of the character's recovery move, I can pull of a spike with his B-air some of the time. I like to use it on Snake or Pit when I am edge hogging. I would let go of the edge going into a B-air and make the recovery harder for them.
