Awesomenauts Thread (Looking for other players, along with some questions)

So, thanks to the Steam Summer Sale, I just bought Awesomenauts, and after a couple of tweaks so I won't freeze every fight, I realized that I really like the game. However, I really feel like this game is just a laid-back MOBA, as everyone keeps leaving in games, and no one really tries to win all that much: I feel like it's really easy to win games against other players, especially if there are no bots on their team, as bots are seemingly a lot stronger than these new players), and I want more of a challenge (especially since this is a MOBA, and just about every MOBA has a competitive scene, whether it thrives in the game (Ranking System, paired up with good players in queue) or out of the game (No one good in Queue, a lot of strong players that host custom-game tournaments). I'm probably just complaining, and this probably happens in every MOBA due to the high amount of skill required, but I dunno.

If you don't know what Awesomenauts is, think of you're general MOBA (League of Legends, Dota, HoN), and put that in a 2d platforming environment. It's also currently less than 3 bucks right now on Steam, with the sale going until June 30th, 2014.

I just really wanted to know a couple of things:

1) Are there any smashers here who play Awesomenauts?

2) If you are someone that does, does the quality of the players increase as you level up?

3) If you have the expansion pack, is it worth it?

4) Who is your favorite character? (Mine is Leon the Chameleon lol)

5) Who is currently the best character?

6) What's the current meta for a 3v3 format (Top, Bot, Jungle) (Top, Bot, Roaming Support) (etc.)?

If anyone can answer at least one of these questions, thanks.

Oh, and if you want to add me on Steam and get together to play some Awesomenauts, I'm Dragonpolabear, and my avatar is the blue portal eye thingy.

Thanks,

Well of course the players get better. It's not "leveling up". It's just reflecting your current skill rating.

I used to play a lot, but I haven't really touched it lately. Roles seemed a lot more fluid and based around zoning and lynching.

Okay, thanks. I'm just a competitive player starting out in a casual game, and I really want to see it grow. I heard that the game is somewhat dying, though, so I'm really worried for it: it's a great game.

Being in the top 50 on the leaderboards I can tell you that players get better the more you climb the leaderboards. At high level, you really need to control the map by denying an area while still being mobile.

Only get the expansion pack if you want to play as Starstorm Nauts and know that you are going to use them. I personally only use Sentry and Skree.

My favorite characters are Clunk and Sentry with Gnaw following very closely.

I can't really tell you who is the best character but Sentry, Penny and Coco definitely are on the strong side. Also late game Leon and Vinnie are really dangerous.

There is no real meta in Awesomenauts. Everyone destroy droids and attack turrets. Aweseomenauts is a very easy MOBA. In pubs, everyone play on it's own and the team with the best synergy or teamwork generally win. During tournaments, it's different but I can't really tell you since my team and I aren't really good and doesn't really try to improve, playing mostly for fun.
